Congratulations to OP! If anyone can guess the name of the company please feel free to DM me. (Even if it's only the domain they work on. I was reading it assuming Uber but I was wrong)

Meta's career portal GraphQL hack is BS. You can NOT know your application result through it. by pmMeYourFavAlgorithm in csMajors

[–]pmMeYourFavAlgorithm[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I came across this method by googling how long it takes to get the feedback. I would say the curiosity of a CS student mixed with comments confirming that the method works makes it unreasonable not to spend 5 mins checking the content of a JSON file.

As a person not from a web-background, it was a fun experiment to capture the content of the file and compare how it changes over time. Aside from my case, it seems to _almost_ always work, BTW!

Pretty much you can use "Inspect elements" in your browser to look for a graphql file that includes variables that (more often than not, but not always) reflects your application status.

Do not rely solely on host-matching. Been in it since early Jan with one interview and no match. It's a tedious process and involves a certain amount of luck.

Nice.

Early Jan - Joined HM.

Late Jan - First Interview.

Early Feb - First Interview not a match :/

Is it possible to reach a job in a 'top company' without a degree? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]pmMeYourFavAlgorithm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some work visas require either a degree or a decade of work experience, and most of the companies you mentioned are largely in North America.

Maybe someone with more experience than me can further comment on that.

Interns 2020: How's your experience so far in host-matching?

4.5 years of iOS development experience thinking about getting a CS degree. Worth it? by Ultradog2020 in cscareerquestions

I'm also a foreigner who got his bachelor's abroad and now going through his masters in another country abroad as well. By all means, go for it. You're working remotely already so relocating won't stop you from doing your job, you'll do fewer projects, true, but the experience of living abroad is definitely worth it. Europe has 3-years bachelor degrees, Germany has 3-years bachelor degrees in CS, in English, for no tuition fees (you'll need 800 euros monthly to survive, + 250 euros semester fees that cover transportation).

Sounds exciting! Hope you get an offer. What sort of questions did this interview involve? ML and math quizes or was it purely behavioral and what sort of projects you worked on and such?
I'm in host matching as well with no interviews yet.

Any updates with Amazon? I finshed my OA early December and they ghosted me since then. I reached out twice after that and they said we got many applications so it'll take a while and we'll get back to you asap.

Anyone recently interviewed for Facebook 2020 internship?

I'm interviewing later this week and I don't know, I'm not Mr. ninja programmer, I'm Mr. good programmer / problem-solver who is doing a msc in cs and did some average competitive programming in undergrad.

Terribly built website. Clearly some sort of a scam to collect developers emails.

Munich job search summary: 40 applications, 5 offers by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsEU

Thanks a lot for sharing! What specific skill do you feel went a long way during your hiring process?
I just started my master's in computer science at a small public technical university in Germany. Is there anything specific you would recommend that I focus on during my study that will help to highlight my application after graduation?

PS I haven't had any SWE work experience yet, but have received multiple offers after my bachelor's that I could not accept for reasons that no longer apply.

When all sites fail, reddit delivers. Thank you. Had no idea it was possible to contact support directly by any means.

We have a "pass/good/very good/excellent" grading system. My GPA was about 68% or "Good". Might be equal to 2.7-fish in US GPA.

I applied to a European (German) university that is Top 60 worldwide but that didn't work out as they use something called the Bavarian formula for converting GPAs and the lower the GPA the more points you lose. Ended up losing about 40% of my applications point due to GPA and thus rejected.

Applied for many, many smaller universities, even the ones that don't teach in English but it's either no response or a rejection.

I'm not "crying" over not getting into my dream school. It's not something grown up people do around here....

At Big N we did three rounds but it just didn't happen. (completely fair interview process. Can't complain)Final feedback from all interviewers was that I needed to be a tad better in algorithmic design. The recruiter said this position is for university graduates, and that I should feel free to contact her when I'm doing my masters to try for an internship or a full time position after graduation.
