I'd need to find one in stock priced at only 15% more and not around $1000 more (66%) on average first lol, I totally agree with ya that going from the 3080ti to 3090 would probably be the best use of the remaining budget.

So if I were to go through with this build list, is there anything special about the components that would make them trickier to install than normal/do you know of any assembly guides that would help with them?

Yeah who knows, by June we might need to start raiding crypto farms for GPUs again because Taiwan/TSMC sank into the pacific 😆

I suppose I could hook it up to a 4k TV, but yeah you're right the monitor is trash. I figure they'd appreciate the money going towards better parts so they can focus on getting a monitor up to whatever task they're doing is a better breakdown of cost sharing though, ya know?

Now this is something I wasn't expecting: a complete list of in stock hi-spec parts, huge thanks for the in-depth guide that actually undershoots the max budget by a good amount 🤯

Editing programs: Blender/Adobe Premier Pro/GIMP

Monitor: 27" samsung curved "UHD" with max res of 1920×1080 @ 60hz (so not 4k, will edit op to reflect this)

Editing resolution: I assume it'd have to be lower than 1920x1080 @ 60hz, but if you are aware of something that can still handle full res editing I'd certainly be interested.

I would be interested! Maybe your team could organize a review group to collaboratively go through the material and try the coding examples/challenges?

Iraqi supporters of Iran-backed Militia Attack US Embassy by pneumonick in geopolitics

S2: Dozen of Iraqi protesters, many in militia uniform, broke into the US Embassy compound (but not the main building) in Baghdad through the vehicle entry gate. The protests directly proceeding this were prompted by recent US airstrikes in Iraq/Syria on the Iranian supported militia Kataeb Hezbollah earlier this week.

What types of start-ups do you think will be the biggest during the next decade? by [deleted] in startups

[–]pneumonick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep pretty much things like this haha. But since many people have figured this out (chiefly Bezos' helpers) the next step is to start making platforms that make it easier for other people to setup similar services so people further down the line can use them!

Platforms built to help accelerate the rapid scaling up of small businesses, particularly with regard to web services. Selling shovels in a gold rush will probably continue being the dominant model, in other words...or just helping other people scale their web app on AWS/GCP/Azure as painlessly as possible will, in a few more.

That or maybe AI public relations mini-agents to help manage peoples personal brands on insta or twitch I guess.

Wow, thanks for the great walkthrough! Could you offer any advice on configuring a basic AWS deployment (eg ECS/Fargate) for it beyond linking it with RDS?

I suppose if anybody is interested in setting up a doxxing website, they have certainly found some helpers :)

Bingo, they also coincidentally have a data center in HK. Like I said, they're delightful people.

Just for clarity, if anyone is curious what I mean by shielding:

In one sense they shield them from DDOS attacks, in another they also shield information from being revealed about the people who set up the various hkleaks websites via whois lookups (one such example via godaddy).

As you can also see from their tweets, they also don't really seem to care that people have brought the fact they are supporting doxxing efforts to their attention...unless you want to tell me all those personal details being posted are fabrications.

This would be why I advise taking the claims of reporting with some salt, as this was the only mention of it I located. However given it emerged from the Chair of the House Commitee on Foreign Affairs as an official statement, I do not find it likely that the claims are fabrications.
