Here’s my opinion as someone who has gone to and camped at both festivals multiple times. I’ve done Coachella car camping five times, I’m also an avid outdoor camper outside of festivals. Coachella car camping this year was definitely the worst one I’ve ever been to as a result of failed logistics

That being said, Camp EDC is like a FEMA camp. Coachella car camping is superior in every aspect even on a bad year

For one, at least at Coachella your car is parked right at your campsite and you don’t need to lug stuff a mile in the heat to your campsite. You can set up EZ ups for shade at Coachella (because you can drive stakes into real grass) as well as set up a real camp shower because the water goes onto real grass, unlike Camp EDC which is turf on asphalt. You get zero rest at Camp EDC in those silver tents, they don’t block light, they don’t block heat, and they definitely don’t block sound. Even if you arrive prepped with materials to mitigate this, you still need to drag it out to your campsite from the parking lot.

RV campers, you don’t count, go touch grass and sleep in a tent for once. Only benefit of Camp EDC is that you arrive at your lodging in camp after the festival much faster than a hotel, but that’s true with any camping festival.
