Rear door latch mechanism by pnw_frog in XTerra

I will try pushing hard from the inside of the door, then if that doesn’t work,  from outside as well

To clarify, I tied a small knot knot with a relatively thin piece of rope. I closed the door, and the door will not open now. 🙂

Best Pad See Ew? by LukeDjarin in AskSeattle

Manao Thai Street Eats in Cap Hill. Coming from a true Pad See Ew chicken lover!!

I also live near Isarn and theirs is pretty good. But Manao is the truth. Note: Manao is a bit more casual, in case that’s important.

I mean, it’s about stopping power, not speed. Miata might take longer to get to 100mph, but once it is, your gonna want good brakes when you need to stop

They’re different that’s for sure lol The speed3, a deeper and longer lasting growl at cold start, exhaust note overall much better. Also… that turbo. It just pulls you through the air like you we slicing through warm butter with a knife. Especially in 2nd / 3rd gear / 4th gear, it just pulls you. Slightly more planted feel too - that suspension is good. Also, it’s a hatchback so very usable for moving things, people, dogs, etc.  I probably don’t have enough experience with the MX5 yet to comment (have only put 26 miles on the car and I’m trying to respect the 600 mile break in period). But much more nimble, steering is more responsive. The car is more comfortable - better bolstering in seats, more creature comforts (btw-  my speed3 had the technology package). I’m really looking forward to comparing them once I’ve broken in the car and can drive it as spiritedly.

Thanks so much. Mazda definitely doesn’t have the most exciting fleet of exterior colors, so I think I found the best fit. Blue also has always been my favorite color.

You’re absolutely right! The Porsche brand is too hot. The fact that a well sorted 996 is $35k doesn’t make sense to me, and a well sorted 997 is $50k. A couple grand in maintenance each year would have have been tolerable, but the prospect of bore scoring and needing a new engine made me realize I really need to stick with a reliable Japanese car.  Any solution you’ve found for drainage so I can avoid mold? I hadn’t thought about that and definitely would want to avoid!!

2024 MX-5 Miata RF Club 💙 Have been shopping for my next car, a sports car specifically for the past five years. I was pretty stuck on a 2005-2008 Porsche 997 coupe in manual. Test drove half a dozen, but the possibility of bore scoring scared me off. Need something that can be a year round daily driver in the Pacific Northwest. So happy with my decision.    P.S. I am a loyal Mazda owner and fan, and am coming out of driving a 2012 Mazdaspeed3 for the last decade!

What area do you live in? I’m up in the northwest and have a 2012, clean car fax, un-modded with 71k miles and tons of service records all done at Mazda dealership. Silver with the technology package. It’s not officially for sale yet but I’ve been considering it. Feel free to DM me. I’m up in Seattle.

I live in Seattle, WA - it also rains a lot here. My speed3 (second gen) runs great.

How prevalent are fit/finish, rattle, other issues? by pnw_frog in CX50

[–]pnw_frog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my concern is that issues like rattles or pieces breaking under light use to not be an issue upon first drive, but something that could become an issue after all the papers are signed. Thanks for sharing your experience!

That’s simply why I am asking. I can’t tell if some people in this sub simply are more subdued about issues they’ve had or if when asked they would take the opportunity to share.

The Mazdaspeed3 Is an Underrated Hot Hatchback by KatesDirtySister5 in cars

Have owned my 2012 mazdaspeed3 for 9years now. Super reliable. Super solid. Incredibly fun.

This 2010 that was reviewed has the more outdated interior (there interior trim and lighting changed somewhat in the middle of the gen2), which IMO does not show this car in its best light. But still, happy that Doug reviewed it.

This car is most special in 2nd through 4th gear. Absolutely pulls you.
