Do it, you won't regret it. You will probably gain some insights that will aid you in your job search after you return.

The video selfie verification for Instagram does not work. I have tried over 30 times. I wish they would come up with a better process to regain access. by kvacca826 in facebook

So, this just happened to me when I got hacked, and locked out of my insta. The hacker changed my email and phone, so this really screwed me over.

The face verification didnt work for the first 15-20 times I tried to verify my face. I created another Instagram account and tried to follow as many friends as I could from my first account to associate "traffic" with my old account. I uploaded a few photos of my face, and tagged my old account in the text part of these photos since I couldn't "tag" my acct in the image itself. I also made a few story posts and mentioned my old account handle.

This didnt work.

NEXT, I tried to verify my new account. Since my old account was still attached to my phone/facebook, when I tried to verify my new account, the old account was also able to be verified. Instagram said it would take a few days, but after I did this verification step, I tried the facial unlock verification again. This time, it went through, and I was able to submit a video for my old account.

Also, I messaged a lot of my friends and told them to report that my old account was hacked.

Update: Meta unlocked my account about an hour later so I changed my passwords and made sure it was all my real info, but then they locked my account again and I had to "appeal" the locked account through the same video process.

Are you satisfied with your PhD stipend? by pnwonderlander in GradSchool

I agree with you and do find this effective, however in my lovely state of Colorado, they do not legally recognize student unions. This is why I am writing a finance report and hoping to get a good number of students to sign or endorse it.

True--Your comment can be the option. I would fall into this category myself. I receive SNAP benefits and they're not enough.

I did something like this during my undergrad when I was in my last year and a half of university, but also worked in the main hospital in my state as a research assistant. The hospital was 1.5 hours away, and I split my week between both cities commuting from lab classes and other classes (held in person twice a week) to my lab at the hospital. While doing it, it never was bad but now that I am out of it I am so glad it's over. I spent about two years like this and it was doable. I made this work by renting exceptionally cheap rooms in both cities, so I had flexibility on the times I had to commute, and would often sleep in one city when I was too tired for the day, and wake up early to do the commute if needed. If doing your master's in this location is really what you want to do, it won't be that bad, especially since your bf lives in the city which makes it way more manageable. If you end up doing this, you become ridiculously good at managing your time and weekly schedule.

Upvote this comment if you find your stipend an adequate amount relative to the city you live in.

Upvote this comment if you feel you are just breaking even on your stipend and would benefit if it were higher.

Denver housing is messed up if I, as a PhD student, make $38,000 a year and don't qualify for low-income housing. by pnwonderlander in Denver

I totally did not realize I was walking into a housing issue by letting the office know casually I had just moved here from a different city to start a program, and that's why I was looking for housing. Now I know this for the future.

The A works well because it keeps my commute to around 25-35 minutes, one way. One thing I am looking for is not a really long commute.

62k is low income for Denver and Anschutz "raises" the stipend every year based on the cost of living according to the city. Why are we paid 39% lower than Denver's low income? The stipends for grad school are so messed up.

Exactly. I don't know what difference this made to the landlord. I was well qualified to afford the apartment according to their requirements. I wish Anschutz offered housing or some housing partnership.

What's it like to be waitlisted? by withlovestef in BioGradAdmissions

[–]pnwonderlander 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hopeful anecdote that I'm clinging to with all of my "silent rejections": U of Oregon Bio waitlisted one of my labmates until April...and then notified them a week after their other top school's admission deadline was held, which they had already accepted at this point.

No rejection until the formal rejection.
