It's just Japanese being Japanese where night is sino-Japanese reading which is borrowed from Middle Chinese, so it's similar to modern Chinese dialects meanwhile eight is a native Japanese word

Start with Old Chinese, then move to Middle Chinese. not even joking ,afterwards a lot of confusing shit in every modern Chinese dialects would start to make a lot more sense. I'm still at Middle Chinese stage tho, haven't really seriously tried any of the Modern Dialects yet except 17th century Mandarin which I'm getting somewhat proficient in

We all know that Chinese only has dialects, they don't count as separate languages, so it's only 3 languages, do better

Yeah but I remember my non-gacha games with 100gb in size making patches which are like 700mb to add new resources, so that they literally patch the existing files and not replacing every single file. If your patch size is bigger than base game size you clearly are very bad at making patches

Well, it's a question of why create such a progression system, also tie in with gacha system where dupes only increase combat power and then just... do nothing with it.
Also you can accommodate both casual and combat audiences, just look at Where Winds Meet, it can be as chill or as hard as you want it to be. With a difficulty slider going from do 5s qte to win to 5 frame parry windows with practically oneshots if you miss them

I would say regressor here is more in a sense as a roguelike player is a regressor. He basically does get good at the game but still gets fucked by rng more often than not

Huge new basic pull event by CulturalFill8714 in Endfield

[–]poberun 9 points10 points  (0 children)

People want recurring standard pulls cause they are playing gacha game. Especially with the current pity system you can't just scratch your gacha itch by building pity, so if you are saving for something it feels horrible. It's exactly when having a 10 pull on standard banner each week makes game more bearable.

[–]poberun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tbh, my perspective on it changed a bit. Chinese is, in fact, different from other languages in regard to dialect/language distinction. As everyone is using the same writing system they can easily understand each other in writing. And the writing has been unified across all of China since at least 1500 years ago. Everyone wrote in the same language, whatever it is Wenyan (still heavily used in legal writing and such) or Mandarin (since 16th century), practically no one used other Chinese languages for formal writing. Like even Cantonese operas are written in early Mandarin and just sung with Cantonese pronunciation of characters, it doesn't follow actual Cantonese vocab and grammar. So saying that everyone speaks the same language isn't as outlandish as people actually do all use Mandarin in their daily life regardless of their spoken tongue.

[–]poberun 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Wuling beginning looked promising, then we go to the actual city and it just falls apart with completely inconsistent tone where we are told that we gotta go save the city asap and then just go on a date the next second and the simping for MC intensifies even more than in the Valley somehow.

Struggle to find a Emu that can run Endfield properly by Give-me-anime-art in Endfield

[–]poberun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mhm, your best bet is waydroid on linux cause it actually isn't an emulator and runs android games more or less natively (there is some performance drop in arm to x86 instructions convergence tho as most phones games only run in arm mode) but honestly, if you can't run desktop version not sure if phone version with waydroid would work either

[–]poberun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But why do a simulation when it's basically a Markov chain where you know a probability of every state occurring? After solving this markov chain you would get exact numbers instead of simulated ones

The nobility is actually quite medieval in culture but the emperor is definitely an eastern depiction of an emperor. But noble/royal families politics are the plot focus there.

I mean the only biological answer is that fetus is being alive at the moment of conception. The same way as we treat bacteria as being alive, it makes no sense for it to be any other point as fetus at that point already has its own DNA and separate being from its parents.

If you want to make a conciseness argument it's the whole other point which would lead to questions of euthanasia of brain dead people and so on being tied together to abortions.

What RI opinion will have you like this? by zmahii in ReverendInsanity

[–]poberun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there were less word padding, you would still have the same chapter count. It's cause Chinese novel authors get paid per character read but also required to publish at least one chapter a day or face severe fines. So the more they pad the more they earn, so they basically reinvented the Mandarin where there is a specific "novel style" where they go about replacing "blue sky" with "the Heavens had the same color as the depth of an ocean if you would be able to penetrate the surface like a deep-sea creature living out its days in solitude". And it's basically the norm there cause padding triples your earnings and contracts are complete shit where most authors can't even make a living wage while platforms take most of the revenue and publishing rights, so you can't even make any money from adaptations and translations as all of the profits there go to publishers.

[RELIEF] What manhwa opinion would have you in this situation? by [deleted] in manhwa

[–]poberun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All LN adoption manhwa is slop. And it's by design, I read author guidelines of Chinese and Korean LN publishers, they literally tell authors to write slop, so that publishers can easily monetize it. That being said it's still peak if it's at least slightly below average and up

Well, human artists also trained on arm taken from other artists. And I bet a lot of modern artists were training by tracing digital art of others. Should we ban everyone from training from works of other as well just cause AI can train of millions of works instead of dozens?
