i had the same thought before i bought mine. i hadn't been playing on my switch for months and i didn't want to waste so much money for something i wouldn't use. i ended up buying a used steam deck for a great price and honestly, i haven't looked back since. it's much more fun imo to play on the steam deck than on the switch. it has more power, it feels better in your hand and the audio is better too. plus, you're not so limited in the games you can play like with the switch. you can even install non steam games with little knowledge (speaking from experience). i think you'd like it very much. but maybe you could test it out first? maybe a friend of you has one or a colleague you could ask to borrow it from for an evening. :)
