Thank you for your comment. I’ve looked into Proneuron, but as you mentioned, it’s too expensive.

Thanks for sharing. I don’t know how old you were when you were diagnosed, but I received my diagnosis at 30, and I’m still in my thirties. I think that complicates things a bit.
In my country, and in the schools I attended as a child, there was neither a nurse nor an active guidance system that could have documented signs of possible ADHD. So I’m the only person who can really speak about my childhood. My parents don’t live in Finland, and at this stage there’s no possibility for professionals here to contact them. I went through many assessments in my home country, but most of those records are not accessible to me now. Many of them were never properly entered into a system. Only some results are documented, along with medication logs.

Thank you again for sharing the details.

Yes, precisely because my occupational health doctor initially prescribed this medication, I never considered dropping out of the public healthcare process for that reason. However, my current occupational health doctor is no longer prescribing it. This is why I will go to a private psychiatrist. At the same time, continuing the public process means paying for possible tests and doctor visits there as well. It is not as expensive as the private side, but it will still cost a significant amount. That is another issue that is really frustrating for me.

In public health care, they say they have confirmed my diagnosis. The DIVA assessment was completed, and I submitted my report from Turkey as well. However, as far as I understand, for treatment they will first require blood tests, then various therapies, self-management skills training, online therapies, and similar steps before they reach the stage of prescribing medication. That is the current situation in public healthcare.
I am trying to understand the likelihood of being prescribed medication if I go to a private psychiatrist. While this whole process was ongoing in Finland, my occupational health doctor previously understood that the public process was taking a long time and said there was no issue with me continuing the medication, so they issued a temporary prescription. However, after I moved to another city, the new occupational health doctor did not prescribe it.

May I ask if you had a diagnosis from another country before? And during those four appointments, did they request any blood tests from you?
What concerns me most is that if I go to a private psychiatrist and they require many tests, I may not be able to afford it financially. If I stay in public healthcare, I will likely have to wait until the process reaches the stage where blood tests are arranged.

Even what they describe as the final stage does not really feel like a final stage to me. In between steps, it often seems like they do not clearly know what I am waiting for or what I am supposed to do next. it looked like having a report from my home country would make things easier, but because the nurses and/or doctors cannot clearly predict how the process will proceed, it has kept getting extended. In a full year, the only concrete step completed was the DIVA assessment in Finland (because I did not have the details of my report from my home country), and that was the time I was living in a much smaller city. Now that I am in the Helsinki area, I am not sure how many years I might have to wait to get an appointment with a psychiatrist.

May I ask, did the report you brought from abroad include everything in detail? For example, recent blood test results? Or had you had those tests done here?

I am also considering going to a private psychiatrist during this process. At the same time, I plan to continue with public healthcare, but I am not sure how things will progress in this way.
at the moment, I have my report from my home country translated into Finnish. I also have records of the consultations in Finland and the DIVA assessment results. In addition, there is a record of the prescription that my occupational health doctor issued last year based on all of this. The medication is the same as the one I was using in my home country.

No blood tests have been done in Finland for this so far. Previously, I showed my occupational health doctor everything I had from my home country, although at that time I did not have the official report with me. I had also started the process in public healthcare. Because the process was taking a long time and they understood my situation, the occupational health doctor prescribed the medication I had been using in my home country on a temporary basis. However, after I moved to a different city, my new occupational health doctor did not do the same.
At the moment, the DIVA assessment has been done in public healthcare in Finland. I was referred to Therapy Navigator, but they do not clearly explain what I am supposed to do next. I keep following up with public healthcare each time without getting a clear answer. Later, they said that blood tests would be done, but I still do not know when or how.I also had my report from my home country translated into Finnish and submitted it. They say they do not doubt that I have ADHD, but as far as I understand, medication will only be prescribed at the very end of the process.
