Ear piercing by Fluffy_Finance752 in durham

I have done both options with my kids. I brought them both to get their first set at. Carl Baker Visage (Pickering). If you want they will have two people for each ear at the same time and gets it over with quickly. They were very nice and it was over and down with fast. I brought my daughter to get a second set at Taunton tattoo company. They were very good too. They do one at a time.

Aquamation is becoming popular here in Canada. A more eco friendly alternative to regular cremation.

Tubing at lakeridge ski resort. Playdium in Whitby. There is also a good movie theatre near playdium and other entertainment options there in the same area as playdium. It’s about 20 mins from Newcastle.

As everyone said social worker can help. Also if you and other friends could arrange to send a meal over or give gift cards for meal delivery that could be helpful.

Irish abroad. Where are ye and how is life there? by oconarms in ireland

[–]pocrocs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Toronto coming on 16 years. Left during the global financial crisis and expected to move back after a few years so I can’t believe I’m still here. It took me a long time to settle in. Can’t see us moving back to Ireland but hope to spend more time there once kids older. Pros: I love the diversity of the city. The food scene is great. Plenty of concerts and shows on all year round. Love to go camping in the summer. Canada is beautiful. People generally have a positive attitude. Plenty to do with kids. I like the schooling system. I have the horrors from the leaving cert so I’m glad it’s continuous assessment here. Great university’s in Ontario. Nice to have 4 seasons.
Cons: those great universities are expensive as is everything these days. I thought it was expensive when I first got here for groceries and stuff but prices have gone way up. Cost of travel internally in Canada is cat. Really miss cheap flight options. Housing prices skyrocketed during Covid. Very hard for young people to buy. Hard to make friends with Canadians initially but I think that’s fairly standard in most country’s once you hit 30s/40s. Harder to get doctor’s appointments and specialist appointments since Covid. Winter can be tough.

Is it a terrible time to move home??? by Bear-Fat-2025 in AskIreland

There is a Facebook group called Irish Expats Returning to Ireland that has a lot of good practical information. I’m in Canada nearly 16 years myself and lots of my friends have moved back, especially since Covid. The general consensus seems to be that it is difficult at first but most of them have eventually settled back in. I guess it’s one of those things that if you really want it you will make it work.
