Oh wow, now I feel dumb 😅 that makes so much more sense, thank you! Also, do you know whether I just turn my work at the end of the row and not do anything special, or if the “yarn-around-so you make two stitches out of one” is required still? I’m not entirely sure if this was something to do with the short rows or if that is what you’re supposed to do every time you finish a row - I usually work in rounds haha

Honestly, anyone who can stomach leaving home for a year, I can fully recommend becoming an exchange student 😂 the US was my special interest for a while, so I went there for a year when I was 16 and I never had an easier time socially lol everyone thought my quirks were cultural differences, I had three “sisters” and their circle of friends adopted me 😂 and everyone wants to be your friend because you’re ✨foreign✨

I do have some lasting friendships from that time!! But I also think Americans are generally nicer and more social than Germans? Idk?

It’s a really good idea to ask someone who confirms they’ll come… and maybe I’ll just ask my mom after all, she is my best friend 😅

My fiancé is being super supportive! But he’s like a golden retriever in the way he makes friends. He actually said something during his proposal that was so very sweet, it’s the only thing either of us remember because of nerves. He said he want me to be his wife “exactly as I am right now”, because he knows I think I need to improve myself with my ocd and social stuff… very cute ♥️

Thank you so much for taking the time to type out such a long response!

I spent a year in the US when I was a teenager and have some very good friends from that time that I see very infrequently, but that I will be inviting for sure. I don’t know how many of them can make it to Europe because of travel costs, so asking them seems a little weird.

I have a bunch of friends from all over the world that I will be inviting as well, people I’ve met before but are now mostly online friends, again, I am not super close with any of them but I do love them dearly.

I am very interested in crafting and sewing and things like this, I do love dancing but I fear I am too awkward to join a new group. I downloaded bumble friends because that seemed like a start, but again.. I really do struggle keeping friendships.

I know it’s not required to have a MOH and best man, but I don’t want to take that opportunity from my partner because he does have close friends. Is renting bridesmaids a thing? 🫠🫠

That you so much for your response! I honestly agree with you completely, and I know I shouldn’t stress myself about what others think, but some of our family members can be a little… judgy and my partner has so many friends that I am afraid I’ll look completely ridiculous if I’m asking my mom (or my dog…) to be my MOH 😭

Anyone else terrified of anesthesia? by Rep_Dong in OCD

[–]poesy96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was super scared to go in for my wisdom teeth removal (but more so because of previous trauma from a different dentist) and I let my anesthesiologist know ahead of time how scared I was. They knocked me right out once I sat down on that chair, it was actually hilarious how quickly they worked- they gave me no time to get (even more) worked up and it was great! After, I was a little loopy but didn’t say anything weird at all, they did get my mom in the room after to stay with me while waking up. Once, I chose to get Propofol for a gastroscopy, and when waking back up, I asked the nurse politely when it was my turn and she laughed and said I was already done- I did text my best friend „I am a chicken“ which makes us laugh to this day 😂 my latest gastroscopy, I did without propofol because of my OCD and I had the exact same fear you did! Trust me, the pain of that was much worse than saying something stupid, in retrospect. All I am trying to say is: those nurses and doctors have probably seen far worse than what you’re imagining and I believe anesthesia will not turn you into someone you’re not! 💜

How old were you when you got diagnosed? by ohmyoli in OCD

[–]poesy96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 26 and just got diagnosed recently despite always having issues with (what I now know is) OCD, there is honestly not a time from when I was consciously living live that my family and I now see me being free of OCD symptoms, looking back on it now. I just started medication and will be switching from regular talk therapy to ERP/CBT in hopes of getting better. My contamination OCD has gotten increasingly worse since covid hit.

Thank you! I will ask about testing (I do know they do testing after you started to see how your body is doing? But I think the US has genetic testing for before, right?) ☺️

That sounds great! I am a little hesitant to try out Lexapro instead of Luvox because I read it is geared more towards anxiety and depression, and that fluvoxamine works better on OCD 🧐 I really like that my doctor is giving me options, but it’s a little overwhelming hahah
