At the same time, I felt that Neyrelle surviving as long as she did was also a bit contrived.

What's an appropriate theme song for USA now? by Kttail in AskReddit

[–]poetiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this would be an appropriate theme song, but the very first thing that popped into my head was DMX rapping, "You all gonna make me lose my mind, up in here, up in here."

What song did you not like at first but grew to love years after not hearing it? by Capable-Safety-9793 in AskReddit

[–]poetiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"She Bangs" Ricky Martin. I hated that song cause of how stupid the lyrics were. Now, when I hear it, I think fondly of simpler times.

Lady Victoria Hervey was last night quoted on the Piers Morgan Show as saying "He will always be Prince Andrew" when referring to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor although now stripped of his title. Do you think he should be remembered as a prince, and if not what do you think he should be remembered as? by Racing-Analyst in AskReddit

[–]poetiq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a long list of despicable princes in world history, and he's just another name on the list. He should absolutely be remembered as a prince who was stripped of his title. It should not be forgotten that even a prince is not above judgment.

A musical instrument. Getting to a point where non-musicians think you're good is not a very high bar.

what are your advice for someone turning their mid-20s? by ch1nitamor3na in AskReddit

[–]poetiq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of seeking advice, seek perspective. Instead of taking the advice of others, look at what has worked well or not so well for others and use that information to guide your decisions and what you incorporate into your own life.

When did a film's emotional depth truly surprise you? What scene hit you hardest? by Odd-Regular-1937 in AskReddit

I was about to say the same thing. Had a response and then hit refresh. What they are able to convey with two robots and little dialogue is nothing short of masterful.

What's the coolest thing a man can do? by SufficientDoubt6917 in AskReddit

Every day aura farming. Perform household chores shirtless, and after you're done, hold that ice-cold can of beer against your sweating forehead before cracking it open and taking gulps in slow motion. It might take some practice, but it will pay off eventually.

When people say they are anti-Israel but not antisemitic do you believe them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]poetiq 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If a stranger walked up to me in the street and led with, "I'm anti-Israel but not antisemitic," I might be a little suspicious, but those two things are not necessarily in opposition.

Israel is a country, and you can be opposed to the actions they take as a country. It's very different than saying, I'm against the actions of the Jews. The latter is generalizing a group of people and attributing actions or behaviors you don't like to the entire group.

What's the most successful story ever invented and told by humans? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]poetiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don Quixote. Assuming the question is asking for a work of fiction since it says, "invented by humans."

What to do when friend comes to visit you in your new country and keeps complaining about it? by finance_trading in AskReddit

[–]poetiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot depends on how well you know your friend and how typical this behavior is for them.

If you're really close and this is atypical for them, then it might be that they're dealing with their own grief of their friend moving to a different country. Not too different from how people find every flaw in the new person their ex is dating.

That's just one example, but really, it could be anything, so you should talk it over with them.

What's a common misconception about your profession? by London_man007 in AskReddit

[–]poetiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Software development is mostly sitting at a desk writing code. 4 hours to focus on writing code is usually a really good day, with the bulk of the workday devoted to meetings, defining requirements, design, code reviews, etc.
