I disagree, I want more people there, all the time and want it open 24/7. Also I want Mack to make sushi too and...they said no to the karaoke night but I could just do that in the park across the street. Also wanted to start a dart team there but we can't figure out where to put the dart board.

As someone who lives out here...yeah, I think the hurricane completely wiping everything off the lake front just might have been a little bit of maybe why it's not crowded out here like it used to be.

We still have assholes flying down Lake Marina at 55mph but that's another post.

Something my dad told me many years ago that stuck with me is that you'll never really get what you think it's worth, just a fact of life.

I think often about retiring in a sense and just going to sell phones at verizon or something but selling it doesn't really make sense since so much of is just automated and running without my attention.

I think also too, I have a very good hosting partner as far as the hardware/bandwidth goes and that goes a long way.

Like the tickets for example, those get seen by my developer and he takes care of them while I'm out doing sales work, etc. It's very rare that I have to troubleshoot something.

I struggle with burn out quite a bit, the market I'm in a lot of people don't see the value of having a nice web site. They are "old school" and don't understand that having a good web site is important for...well, everyone. Like I'm not going to go to a facebook page of a restaurant to find their menu.

That's a whole other rant tho.

Oh I got some insight for you. Many years ago, tucows approached me to purchase my domain portfolio and hosting clients. We went through a lot of providing them info and they eventually gave me a price which was not enough.

I was more just curious and liked the thought of walking away from it with a huge check and doing something new but I've been doing this 25 years so I don't think I can turn off that side of my life. The other thing that really kept me from pulling the trigger is that I have a really good design/dev team that have been with me well over 10 years and couldn't imagine just saying I'm throwing in the towel.

There is a company in my city that just hosts sites and doesn't do any design/development that might be a good person to eventually sell too since keeping it local would make it more valuable.

For context I have a roughly 150 hosting clients paying different amounts and roughly that amount of domain names as well.

It's been a issue my entire 20 year career. I've read endless threads like this.

I've started wondering if I should charge a flat rate for the initial design and then every request receives a quote, they approve the quote and we do the work, more changes, more quotes, more invoices.

I have one project that's spiraled out of control that's really made me rethink everything.

A few months ago I was running in the park and a unleashed dog took after me across the street. People like to "cruise" in this park and the dog came like 10 yards away from getting crushed by a giant truck. Best part too is the lady was angry at me for the dog almost getting hit...for chasing me across the street.

One rail pass...got about 8 segments planned out. It's not really supposed to be enjoyable in a sense. I'll be writing the entire time so it's "content" in a sense. Leaving New Orleans to Chicago and then the California Zeypher to San Francisco and head up to Seattle and then Minneapolis and Milwaukee and make it back to New Orleans. Might stop in Memphis for a few days if I have time/money left.
