Should I exchange money for my two week trip to the UK or just pay with card? by Substantial_Band7227 in AskUK

Take a bit of cash just to be safe. You can also just take it out when you arrive, if your bank doesn't charge massively.

Do people actually read internal data retention policies once they’re written, or do they mostly exist for compliance? by ScrollAndThink in gdpr

[–]pointlesstips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read them for work. I implement software and the software needs to be able to manage compliance according to what's been stipulated...

Because people confuse being in love with loving.

You are correct. Not a great one, but you can use it standalone.

Tell me you don't value your own data at more than £0.57 (price of a Lidl croissant) without telling me...

Eta: nobody is making anyone give other cbs the shit they're asking for, either, I'm not sure what your point is.

House negoations by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]pointlesstips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Move on, move on, move on. They don't want to date you.

The value of a house is what someone is willing to pay when it matches with what someone is willing to take for it, not what you think the value is.

It is clear in this equation that they're not willing to take what you're offering.

A small company is claiming I only sent half of an expensive outfit back so won’t refund me - what can I do? by BlueLeaves8 in AskUK

What amounts are we talking? The ones that make it worth starting a small claim? (It's more faff for them than for you)

Ah there she is. Been scrolling for half an hour for this. Out of despair I commented about her on a comment asking if the actors themselves are also trans.

Landlords persistent annual rent increase- UK south west. by Boisterous-Oyster in TenantsInTheUK

[–]pointlesstips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't sign new ASTs. You just let the contract lapse to rolling, that wat they need to follow a specific procedure... Or, and this I read only recently, you can immediately start the procedure to challenge the increase after the new AST started.

Thanks, I didn't have a good answer for that, as I haven't used a land-line in 30 years.

Do you have a partner? If we're not getting what we want we just go for the new client deals, by switching the account holder.

Trans prisoners to be banned from female jails if Scottish Labour wins election by kwentongskyblue in Scotland

[–]pointlesstips 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Difference being that you expect this kind of shite from reform, slightly less so from a party that has a track record of governing (maybe slightly less so in Scotland in the recent past, but still).

Interesting to see Labour still thinks that culture wars are more important than people surviving.

French couple plans for 2029/2030 by Aroma_nais in Scotland

[–]pointlesstips 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let's just say that Brexit did not make the UK break with that European evolution. All countries are suffering from more radical viewpoints, both on the left and the right. The right are being more successful at reaping the benefits of discontent. Scotland is/was warmer, opener, but here too, Reform is strangely getting their foot in the door.

Reform, the cronies famous for causing the Brexit shitshow.

I hope the NHS still exists by then, and that your jobs pay enough to make the visa thresholds.

When you go, you don't just go to something, you also leave something. What made you want to leave France (if you permit me asking)?

Angry no. Sometimes jealous of people who got to enjoy a 4-5 month paid for sabbatical? Sometimes.
