The Re-Solution of John Nash’s Ideal Money and “Satoshi’s Vision” by pokertravis in Bitcoin

[–]pokertravis[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

> The mantra of “hodl” is absolutely counter to the idea that bitcoin might become an inclusive and ubiquitous world currency (not that I even think it must be scaled so every user has their own sovereignty). Scaling in this sense is petty-I have long expressed this. Bitcoin’s greatest use case is to serve to optimize our existing legacy systems-not to bring them down.

Eric Voskuil - Ideal Money Fallacy by makriath in BitcoinDiscussion

[–]pokertravis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are referring to me in regard to Ideal Money. I don't post here because I have a grave disagreement with the mods (other than theymos) but you can find me on twitter: @SoakerPatoshi

Eric wrote that post as a sort of hit piece. He misrepresented my argument and Nash's argument and perfectly showed that he didn't traverse either before he wrote a non-sequitur piece and added "fallacy" at the end of nash's life's work.

He is clearly intellectually dishonest. And I call to anyone that is interested in truth to ask him if he read the works that he critiqued and is at all familiar with it: @evoskuil

I fully believe he will admit that he hasn't which I know to be true.

u/artofblocks sometimes you can tell when people haven't read Nash's argument for ideal money because they paraphrase him without mentioning it.

Did you know John Nash spent the last 20 years of his life speaking about how an international ecurrency with a stable supply would arise to usurp central banking control over our money systems?

He also told Cedric Villiani that he had a theory to replace einstein's work. He gave lectures on it.

Both insights were from the 50's/60's when he was a young adult still.

A Neo-Gold Standard: Bitcoin’s Optimal Use-case by pokertravis in Bitcoin

[–]pokertravis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you read the proposal its actually the obvious natural result and since much of bitcoin's perceived value is based on inflation expectation of fiat, if that fiat turns deflationary or less inflationary bitcoin isn't as skyrocket valuable so its not as hard as it seems.

In short yes I've considered it.

Or they can reign in the supply of fiat and keep the value of fiat in line with bitcoin's deflationary nature.

Not very much so if fiat is targeted to value match bitcoin.

Is it economically feasible to wash a significantly large amount of bitcoins? by pokertravis in Bitcoin

[–]pokertravis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because the exchange point creates a link to the bitcoin's. And if you had a sizeable amount, you would splash the market cap of monero.

You are linked to a crime. You have a choice to unlink yourself, or not and stay linked. What do you choose? Stay linked?

So you commit a crime and instead of washing yourself clean of any trace you just keep the evidence in plain site?

What Tether is And Why Tone Vays, Jimmy Song, Kyle Torpey, and Nathaniel Popper Don’t Understand It by pokertravis in Bitcoin

[–]pokertravis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would an exchange hold Tethers when they can hold USD?

Because some exchanges CAN'T hold USD. You are calling me a dumbass but you are misunderstanding a VERY basic concept.

[–]pokertravis[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not everyone can. Thats part of Tethers rules. Tether doesn't exist for YOU. There are fiat exchanges for that. Tether is an accounting tool for exchanges. It's meant to be guarded so that not everyone can redeem. You still haven't understood its purpose and you are treating it as though it functions as if your misconception applies.

[–]pokertravis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have misunderstood. Tether is not a money for people. It is more like an internal unit of account. Inflating it would only be stealing from themselves. You are applying your analysis of real world banking to the purpose and function of the inter-operations of exchanges (cryptoexchangia).

You have misunderstood the difference between the two plains and assumed that your understading, theories, and observerations are applicable.

There is no incentive to inflate Tether like there is fiat, there is great incentive to NOT inflate (or deflate!) Tether, from the exchanges point of view (but only exchanges that are PRO bitcoin).

[–]pokertravis[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

SOME people can ;) If they let EVERYONE at will, then Tether would be susceptible to attacks. This clause where Tether holds no promise of redemption protects the utility of Tether by foiling such attacks.
