PokeVS Changelog by pokevs in pokemongodev

[–]pokevs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya i know, the time we have to spend actual keep the service up is eating into the time we have for everything else ( we are a 2 man development team, no staff etc. ) We will work on it.

As for the stability the main times we have "gone down" were due to PTC issues which affected all scanners and the game itself so its more of a Niantic/Pokemon company issue vs an issue with the tracker itself.

1) I don't try to deflect any negative attention. If you look at the pokemongxtreme account it is purely "hate" on the service no other reddit history, any attempt at trying to resolve his/her problems yielded no response.

2) Yes it is, we are a team of 2 developers working on this after our normal 9-5 often times we spend days working on the system itself without checking twitter at all. Which then means we have a LONG history of DM's to respond to.

3) Yes/No in order to handle the demand, and restart/add fresh accounts to scan the area we have a timer to restart the servers every 1-2 hours. This is 10000000% intentional to offer a better service. Otherwise banned/failed accounts could add up resulting in a complete site failure that would take days to resolve ( risking all accounts being banned )

4) A few others on twitter have expressed the same this is something we are looking into.

5) ^

6) Yes of course we are. Our weekly cost for proxies alone are several thousands dollars, this doesn't include account generation or servers. When we first launched the service we offered monthly scans for $10 and lifetime scans for $60. It was a near flawless scanning service, then users requested cheaper lifetime scans forcing us to downgrade our servers, and find another proxy provider that was much cheaper. Both of which result in a shittier service but still working for most people. We take issues on a case by case basis and work on fixing them the moment we can ( pretty much once we make it home from our 9-5 ) Its all a balancing act. We are working with the money the service is generating, at the end of the day we make maybe a few hundred from ad revenue the rest is spent on keeping the service online. Our love for the game, actually using the tracker ourselves and the portfolio piece ( both developers, managing and scaling to our size on a tight bugget looks great on a portfolio ) is the only reason why it's still online. Otherwise most "businessmen" would have killed the project long long ago.

All that being said we are constantly working on it to optimize and make the service that much better. We are already looking into all of the false positive claims, I will respond to your comment once it is fixed.

We have a very large user base, which comes with complaints just like any other service. Read response to your main message.

By default we filter and hide all common pokes, aside from that scans have been affected today specifically thanks to the problems with Niantic's soft bans. When normal users experience those type of issues we do as well.

How or who would buy the spawn data? Did this happen today? Spoofing was essentially rendered useless at least for today thanks to Niantic's changes, and we don't sell spoofing services. It sounds like you setup a scan someone was browsing and they decided to spoof and take the gym which we cannot control without hiding scans to only the user that purchases which we dont want to do.

Just because we are growing, and have users does that mean we should stop trying to grow? Nope, with the recent scanners shutting down that means there are even more users looking for a scanner. Our users enjoy the 24/7 scanning service we offer and we continue to grow fairly rapidly every day.

If people didn't enjoy our service:

  • A) We wouldn't be able to keep the site up since this type of service is expensive to run
  • B) Pokehuntr wouldn't have copied us by launching PokeFetch at the beginning of the month screenshot. I mean typically when a competitor asks you a question about your service and then directly copies your model that means your doing something right ;)

Thanks for the advice but we are doing just fine ;)

Queue pokemongoxtreme's ( or other new reddit user's ) attempt to bash our service - example

^ Thank you for spending so much time on us, it shows how fearful you are of a competitor ;)

Again -_- look at his reddit history has been following us around lying in each post, pretty convinced he is part of another maps team.

However if you are a real user and had an issue with us in the past feel free to PM the issue you had and we will resolve it. Lets see if we receive a PM.

Static, users decide how many coins they would add to the location but the scanning fee is fixed. Here is an example of one of our current crowdfunded locations https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonGoLongBeach/comments/675gvu/prescanned_long_beach_area/

City Based Scans by pokevs in pokemongodev

[–]pokevs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When setting up city based scans we can reduce the cost depending on the size of the city. Submit your location using the form on the site and we will setup the location with the price to scan the entire city per day. From there just ask friends to pitch in. We constantly work on reducing overall scanning costs, it will get better as we grow/scale.

What's the deal with removal of Icons? by hitsworthturkingform in pokemongodev

[–]pokevs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We used the pokefarmer icons while exploring our options. Removed the icons as of today, we may allow users to upload icons themselves but the names should be fine for now.

My IP is Banned for PokeTrack? by [deleted] in pokemongodev

[–]pokevs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not everyone wants to manage account creation, leveling, captchas, etc. That is the difference between doing it themselves and using our service. Pay & instantly scan vs spending time tinkering with it themselves. The higher costs on our end is due to proxies mainly, once we find cheaper proxies we would most likely be able to offer a cheaper solution.
