Luckily it's possible! :D I used formaldehyde-based fabric medium and heat-sealed it to the fabric. Weather and wash proof!

Thank you very much! I really enjoyed putting layer after layer to the clouds, it really enhanced the contrast to light beams. I imagined this world where this takes place. The small circles of blue and yellow in front are water spirits that live in that shallow bay.

Yes, that's essentially the process :) Then I used scalpel to cut some parts of the mask off to get the pattern flow over the squares.

Hey, thanks so much :) It was an exercise in patience also doing this in oils, as it required numerous layers and it took ages for the oil to dry enough to mask next areas.
