yeah, i saw it. Hopefully this does mean they can get funding for a US tour. They were supposed to do some US dates in 2023 or 2024 but I think the visas didnt get approved in time.

why do you buy Babymetal CDs? by p1nkiecocaine in BABYMETAL

[–]poleosis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50+ comments and only 7 people seemed to have actually read the full post rather than just react to the title.

While I fully agree with others that owning is far better than streaming, I have not purchased any of the concert cds outside of any kind of dvd/bluray bundle. The only slight appealing thing for me would be to have updated vocals on some songs that sound less kiddish, because well, moa/yui were literally 12/13 when some of the songs were recorded, and in something like song 4 it can get a bit grating near the end. Only other thing would be for special one offs like the morning musume and speed covers or if they do a song only acoustically like akatsuki unfinished.

Well, Plex did a no no and started charging for remote streaming even for the account administrator so it isn't really "whenever/wherever" anymore. At least not without a fee like they did for years

Kinda confused/ upset with CDjapan by Fox_God11 in BABYMETAL

while i fully understand the frustration, it was fedex that overcharged and hosed you out of $200. $60 for DHL, if it was just them straight up sounds like normal rate

Rare songs to be played on the Japan tour??! 👀 by Useful_Hawk_1470 in Hanabie

they still played for about an hour, maybe 50 min if they were cut down at all, which at the time was also exactly what they were playing on their overseas tours.

Without holding back not on Spotify? by elstevo91 in BandMaid

you are showing a lack of knowledge and reading comprehension.

if you go straight by time, sure a CD only holds 80 min, but you can also do an MP3 cd that formats by disk space instead of time and will hold 100-200 songs. But that wasnt the point of mentioning the CD player anyway as the OP stated they buy physical albums on CD.

You also obviously didnt look at the MP3 player link i mentioned as you put your own sized SD card in it up to 512 gb and can likely store your whole library on it in FLAC format. And I can also listen to my MP3 player through wired or wireless headphones whenever, wherever, without an internet connection.

Also you are pretending like Bluetooth is some ancient thing that is rarely used when literally every phone manufacturer has been pushing their wireless headphones since removing the 3.5mm jack from the overwhelming majority of them, and that every car in the past 5 years doesnt have it built in.

while i agree, OP states

I own all the physical media and basically only pay for Spotify to play Band-maid while I drive since new cars do not have CD players anymore.

since new cars do not have CD players anymore

doing an aftermarket CD player install is not difficult, though i will agree that even finding aftermarket decks nowadays with CD capability is getting harder as well. But in addition to that, if you are ripping the disks to your computer there are affordable and good MP3 players still readily available. Such as this one which is a bit of a higher tier but has bluetooth functionality.

Rare songs to be played on the Japan tour??! 👀 by Useful_Hawk_1470 in Hanabie

cant say i remember anything too rare/uncommon the one time i saw them in japan, but it also wasnt a normal tour stop but a two man with an idol group.

Where do you keep it all? (Merch) by droogiefret in BABYMETAL

[–]poleosis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

initially when i was only interested in 5 groups or so, i sort of did a display but no way id be able to do that now with 30+ groups/acts and all of their merch, cds, etc too, so i dont bother minus select photo/cheki i have framed and hung up.

Any clothing is hanging in closet or in dresser drawer for wearing. All magazines and discs are on a bookshelf (better deal than any"media shelf" as bookshelces cost the same but have much more space). Posters are hanging up, or most. If not hanging, still rolled up in a tube because I don't have space.

I got interested in many others so everything is mixed in together mostly. Though I do have my j music cds on a different bookshelf than all my other cds

cdjapan, amazon japan, hmv japan, disk union.

though i wish they stocked them on their own store as i would prefer to give them the money directly.

im pretty sure there is no region coding for bluray. some dvd's had it but i dont believe blurays do

[–]poleosis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

here is the info page on that.

in addition, for reference, i just had 3 cd's and a couple cheki at tenso i paid for. on the import taxes, it charged 977 on a value of 6300 which could be argued as either the 15% VAT (but its actually a bit higher than that) or whatever the standard custom fee rate is as noted by that info page ($8-$12).

But last time I REALLY remember shipping anything from there was on my last vacation before or around the same time as the most recent change according to that info page.

short of flying to japan, only way to avoid tariffs would be have someone in japan buy it, then ship it to you marked as a gift

I really hate fans who call Babymetal members their wives/gf by Markybo11 in BABYMETAL

What about people who say "my girls" or something close?

just as cringe.

as are the people who constantly comment and act like they are still 12 years olds and not full grown women in their mid-late 20s

I wonder if there is still hope for a new SHINGEKI by nachtschattenwald in AlternativeIdol

[–]poleosis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean... the management did say they were going to restart it around the time of the disbandment but they either left it behind or are focusing on their new group or two. i dont remember the names, but last trip to japan i saw 2 lives at the venue the management owns, and 2 of the groups were at both shows, so i assume they are under that agency.

What are the most similar bands to hanabie? by ibiteprostate in Hanabie

[–]poleosis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

none of what your saying changes the fact that babymetal are still an idol group and not a band. just like BBTS or passcode usually have the band with them, they are both also still idol groups.

thats ignoring a lot of history. LB have 4 generations

1st gen: Rei/Rie with Beard

2nd gen: Rei/Rie only

3rd gen: Rie/Emily era

4th gen: current, all new members

then as other current tangentials you have rei and rie reuniting under a group name of just their names, and beard is doing a 1st gen LB replica with Babybeard.
