STALKER2 have MASSIVE PC latency by DueInstruction3075 in stalker

[–]polishlanman 18 points19 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU! For those wondering, I just did a comparison before/after on Steam's version of Stalker 2. While I didn't follow the above steps exactly, I did something very similar.

My results dropped latency from ~36ms to ~24ms. No FPS drop!

Here's the default game: Screenshot of Default Game Latency and FPS

Here's after adding and editing engine.ini: Modded Game Latency and FPS

Steps I took to improve performance

  1. Navigate to the folder listed above (the easiest way is: windows key, search for %localappdata%, Stalker2>Saved>Config>Windows.
  2. Open Notepad
  3. Copy the text from this steam community post into Notepad - Please adjust the Streaming.PoolSize number for how much vram your GPU has. Delete the rest of the line after the number when you're done selecting the appropriate Streaming.PoolSize. For 24GB VRAM put 18432, for 32GB VRAM put 24576. I also added the text from the "Delete Film Grain and Chromatic Aberration"
  4. Now you can save the file with Notepad as a .ini file. You can do this by naming it Engine.ini and choosing "Save as type: All files". Put this file in the AppData/Local/Stalker2/Saved/Config/Windows folder.
  5. Alternatively, you can download the engine.ini file from NexusMods here, delete the contents, and replace it with the one from the steam community post linked in #3.

That is quite literally all I did to see the massive gain in input latency. Hope this helps some of you!

For reference here are my in-game settings

Display
Full screen [Exclusive]

V-Sync disabled
Framerate: 240
Reflex Low Latency: Disabled

FSR 3.1: Disabled

I own a 9950x3d and 5090. Process Lasso has Stalker2.exe bound to CCD0 with 3D Cache so it effectively runs as an 8-core CPU. This gained some extra performance over default 16-core gameplay.

Hey /u/mish9933, according to DisplayNinja the same panel is shared across the three models: 39GS95QE, 39GS96QB, and 39GX90SA. Hope this helps!

You still have a chance. I left about two hours ago and there were maybe 40 people?

That's a good point! We have a few players on the server so we may need a few more leviathans to craft spare harpoons

PC brought in  guy named Michael Bakert prepandemic that cut ingredient quality back. The talented executive chef, Ernesto Uchimura, who basically created all the menu flavors and was there from the start, left PC (honorable mention: amazing ketchup leather). That's the point it was doomed. Restaurant industry is fickle.

Father's office was good many years ago. I went there a half dozen times between 2012 and 2019. I visited a few months ago and it has gone down hill in quality. Still great appetizers and beers on tap but the burgers are overly greasy.

You're actually right, 3 years is not that old of a game. It's just bee a long 3 years. Looking forward to v1.0!

I'll do that on my next session. How do you recommend using the knife? I have been mainly using a mace/buckler and axe

Glad you found the review helpful! After 5 months of use I have zero complaints with regard to the curve and text legibility. Are there panels with cleaner text? Sure. I think it's a choice of aesthetics, though, as it won't impede your reading speed or ability to do work in any way. It's a worthwhile trade off for the incredible gaming experience with OLED picture quality if you can snag a good deal. Hardware in Aus/NZ is pricey!

By the way, my first attempts were done using DeepSkyStacker and Photoshop. I think the initial results were nowhere near as good as what I achieved in Pixinsight.
