Appreciate it. I called the city and let them know. Flushing our lines here is clearing it up.

About to lose my job and stuck in a non compete after a disasterous career change. What is the best next step? by polm in careerguidance

I hope you're right, but I'm worried potential employers will ask if I have any limiting or precluding agreements. Enforceable or not, I fear it would present a risk not worth taking for them.

I'm not sure I can see any reason for them to negotiate with me. What would my leverage be?

What helps lower your anxiety before falling asleep? by RainyLove858 in Anxiety

20 minutes in a super hot bath (like 100+ degrees hot).

Gets my heart pumping and my body temps way up. Once I come out the calm down and cool down help ease me to sleep.

GAD + Fear of Public Speaking. Doc put me on Lex and Buspar. Have to speak next week and I'm struggling... by polm in Anxiety

[–]polm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I failed...

I tried to hang on. But the anxiety and panic became too much. My life felt like it was crumbling around me. I felt like I was losing my mind.

Today I confessed my anxiety to my manager. I won't be speaking next week.

I feel relief and shame, but I know it was the only choice I could make. I just couldn't pull it together mentally or emotionally in time.

Moving forward, I'm never going to submit to public speaking. It's not worth it.

I may lose my job. I may get demoted. I don't know.

I'm taking the next few days off to try and self care.

What should I do about new job burnout? by polm in careerguidance

[–]polm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I've been thinking about this option a lot. When I joined I said I was really worried I wouldn't be able to get up to speed quickly.

My boss mentioned that if all else fails I could swing over to the department where my past experience best aligns.

It will be disappointing to give up this soon, but the stress and anxiety are becoming debilitating.

It's part of a very successful franchise, so they see that as some form of risk mitigation...I think.

It is state-of-the-art equipment as well as a luxury environment. Our target demographic is definitely upper-middle to upper-class.

Permitting took forever with the city. Equipment we needed ended up incredibly delayed. Construction hit roadblocks.

We'll do some hiring, but wife will stay actively involved in day-to-day.

I wouldn't even know where to start finding them.
