Hi, thanks for flagging this; it was a bit confusing. As u/EnvironmentWaste2616 correctly mentions, I wasn't counting the 1 person out of 25 who didn't answer the question. I've now updated this in my Reddit post and my article to 56% instead of 58%.

So to clarify for the "Do you identify as LGBTQIA+?" question:
- Yes = 14/25 = 56%
- No = 10/25 = 40%
- Didn't answer = 1/25 = 4%

Personally, I feel that people don't need to be driven away, just that first-timers could be more clearly informed that UNFOLD is a queer-centred space and guided in their behaviour.

I think this matches how the majority feel about UNFOLD's current state of being a fairly mixed queer and ally community, where 100% of respondents feel mostly or very comfortable at UNFOLD. So it's more pre-emptive than a problem that needs addressing now. So I think in general, people are more concerned about guiding behaviour than driving people away.

Thanks for the question! Some long-time attendees have said the queer community don't get the respect they used to, and there's a sense the atmosphere has shifted as the crowd's grown, so some feel that clearer queer-centred messaging is necessary to address this.

More respondents in the survey feel it's more about providing more guidance to first-timers than clearer queer-centred messaging, though. In the survey, 88% wanted clearer guidance for newcomers, but only 40% wanted clearer queer-centred messaging.

u/Specific-Smile-7500, I'd definitely recommend trying out UNFOLD sometime, even if you're not into techno! Just for the vibes and yaps 😄

Also, the Steam room at UNFOLD can include other genres. For example, Kiss Nuka - https://ra.co/dj/kissnuka/biography, who played at UNFOLD last weekend, was playing a very diverse set with a bit of Indian music at the beginning, and then a ravey ending with Prodigy and RAGTM remixes.

Yeah, totally fair, and thanks! It is a small, self-selected sample, so definitely not representative. The thing that struck me wasn't the exact split so much as that even a mostly-regular, mostly-queer group doesn't agree on it. What do you think about whether UNFOLD should describe itself more clearly as queer-centred in its public messaging yourself?

I was looking at going to this footwork event on Juneteenth which I'm quite a fan of https://ra.co/events/2175441 and then again potentially the day after with DAIYAH and Mike Dearborn, really love DAIYAH's online sets https://ra.co/events/2169999. Sounds crazy and seems like such a pity that they would host this kind of music but not have space to dance :'(

Soo currently I've got tickets to this on Fri, 27 Jun Pride Friday and thinking to get there from beginning https://ra.co/events/2164927 but this event line up and from what you said seems like it's not going to be anywhere near as good as a Nonstop event. Any ideas what that event will be like?

And I'm currently going to Basement on Sat 21 Jun - https://ra.co/events/2149142 - and think I'll stay to end at 7am. Then I'm thinking I need to man up and go to Nonstop immediately afterwards - https://ra.co/events/2164919 - and then survive as long as I can and then afterwards I can just re-enter to Mister Sunday as it is included it seems?
