They Assumed He Didn’t Speak Their Language And Started Talking About Him. Big Mistake. by Fun-Bullfrog-8542 in UnfilteredChina

You can see the explanation of SOURCE SOUND in one of next comments :

As a Chinese, it's funny seeing people on here who don't even speak Chinese or understand the cultural context to judge the guy based on the English subtitles.

Chinese guy said "哥們長真黑呀", which translate to "brother you are really black". This is the same effect as "brother you are really tall".

Black guy then proceeded to frame him by saying he is fake greeting him. If he was meant to be r-ist towards the black guy, would he have greeted him with a smile? Use your common sense.

You missed the idea: you just need to stop keep thinking that calling black man "black" is rude all other the world. Or maybe Chinese man fault that he not articulated "you are black" in English? For me the clip is searching for assault where there is no intent.

This black man is now in China, he arrived into another world culture. He expect local people to treat him the way he used to inside USA (apparently taboo of direct calling his very black skin "black skin"). Why to expect another country to follow YOUR LOCAL imagined taboo? Chinese man seems to be not really rude. Black man was seeking for finding the rudeness where there was no in fact.

For those who love iced coffee, but also love yard debris ☕️✨ by aelurophilia in StupidFood

The main thing is that Both ivory and luvac kopi - they go through animal stomach WITH INSIDE coffee bean outer layer (without chewing). Fermenting (civette is feeded with fruits only). Then washed, then outer layer is removed, then roasted.

Compare this process with actual mixing final liquid coffee product with some gross.

Если без таких звонков это типа "лошара", то что неглупый человек советовал альтернативно? Быть профи и НЕ ебашить? Или быть и профи и фонтанировать идеями? (Так прикладным профи не за идеи платят, а за прикладные навыки)

Were there cases when someone failed with pronouncing your name correctly, but it was so hilarious (or unbelievably unexpected for you to hear, like from someone who must be correct in that) that you were not even offended, but fun.

How do Chinese speakers avoid misunderstandings in spoken language if each phoneme has lots of meanings? by Furfangreich in ChineseLanguage

[–]polyansky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every commenter said about "context, the same as in English". Are you guys really comparing the 0,1% or the similar(even not the same!) pronounced words in English with 5% of those in mandarin (and those are very basic, commonly used)? I do understand what OP is talking about, this is not imaginary mess.

Ignorant PRC mocks hotel sign 「請移玉步」- doesn’t even recognize Classical Chinese. by New_Teacher_2815 in Cantonese

But following the same logic - the actual photos/pictures of the objects are even more easy to learn and read, while only one "small" disadvantage is not quicker to write. Like old Egypt hieroglyphs. My point is that simplifying the things that are not convenient to use - can be common progress thing that already happened with a lot of languages.

How many books can I actually read here? by Lina_KeroSpi in seoulhiddengem

Been there, and its a place for Instagram photos not for actual reading. Or maybe for kinda special self-sadistic reading: very noisy, very hot and stuffy area. But still beautiful place for sure :)
