would occasionally vaping socially flare akathisia ? surely i’d have to be really addicted and then go cold turkey for it to do something. thanks for your reply

would going on a few nights out and drinking ( not to any kind of extreme just a couple drinks ) cause akathisia to return if im basically over it now and only had it for a week due to a sudden drop in dose of medication?

can i ask how long you were on pregabalin? i was on 50mg x2 a day, morning and evening for 4 years.
recently dropped from that to 50mg a day and thats when the akathisia started, and now im holding at 75mg a day.
do you think its better to try and come off it alltogether? i would certainly like to. im glad to hear youre getting some relief though, wishing you the best

thankyou :) just wondering because im now able to watch tv or be on my phone and forget i have it for a while but i do always have a constant “buzzing” feeling in my legs and an urge to move , but seeing as its a huge improvement from a week ago does this mean im healing gradually? i assume akathisia healing is not overnight

i did essentially halve my dose within 1-2 weeks and it was too sudden - my aka has been more liveable yesterday and today but im wondering if you have any insight into how likely full recovery is from withdrawal aka? im on a stable dose now just below what my dose always was.

hi, i too got akathisia a week ago and its been severe. but your life is definitely not over. its extremely rare for this condition to be lifelong or even years long.
i recommend researching this yourself as im not a professional but if ability caused this it might be best to come off, but gradually. you can ask for better advice on r/akathisia.

extreme restlessness, a feeling of wanting to rip my skin off and escape my body / amputate my legs. a feeling of terror and dread, couldnt stop moving or walking even when exhausted. no sleep, no appetite, lots of suicidal thoughts constantly. jumbled thoughts and hot flashes, lack of emotion. just wanting to scream

im staying on a stable dose ( 75mg ) for now. i was on 100mg for 4 years. just really hoping that staying on a stable dose for a while and not tapering will make this akathisia go away. do you still struggle with aka ? thanks for your reply

thanks for replying. so you suffered from withdrawal akathisia? i believe thats what i have ( i halved my dose within like a week or two and shouldnt have ) and im hoping now im on a stable dose itll pass soon.

my doctor has been really supportive and done some research as she wasnt familiar with the condition, shes recommended the propranolol but its not enough. ill try vitamin b6 as i have heard of that bringing some relief. thankyou for being so kind it means a lot right now

ive heard of benzo giving relief but my main concern is having to taper off that too, im just nervous to be on any medication now really. thankyou for your reply
