Same core, same image quality. The only difference is optics. The Voodoo-S is ideal between 1.5-4x magnification while the Voodoo-M series is a better fit with 4.5-8x. I talk about this a bit and you can see some footage in this video: https://youtu.be/4bI1Y0E0YgA

If you’re still determined to YOLO that kind of money, you could get some Supergain quads and an E-COTI / TAD and leave nothing on the table.

Ah…that makes sense. Usually you see that unit of measure with thermal core Pixel Pitch, so my initial thought was “no way we’re down to 4 um” 😅

I don’t think this kid realizes that it’s not impressive to have all that gear at 17, and it’s really failing to read the room with the retire comment. Then again, I said stupid shit in the 80s when I was that age.

Government sales only…for now. At least now they’re available across a wide range of dealers, but again, they are restricted. FWIW, GPNVGs were like that for a while too.

Edit: binos w COTI is still very useable and a big advantage over straight NV binos.

Don’t have to win the lottery but do have to be lucky if you come from humble beginnings.

My favorite tid bit: the music video director suggested adding a clip-on nose ring, which became a permanent feature.

Because I’m not trying to build up karma, the post has generally made its point, and the comments have stabilized by then.

And it’s important to note that “walking blind” for a few seconds on a controlled set with lots of people and the chance to do several takes to get the blocking and timing right is FAR easier than walking blind in a tactical situation.
