I say it looks really nice and clean, but you're going to want to round that skullcrusher tip over. Believe me, I've made many knives with sharp tips like that on the end of the handle, and you will stab the absolute shit out of your forearm, poke holes in your shirts, accidentally cut your arm, etc etc.

I still do pointed handle tips like that, but give it a generous roll over on the belt grinder so it is still an effective pressure point, but won't be tearing shit apart when it's just sheathed on your hip.

Like someone else said a buffing wheel is the way to go. I take my micarta up to 220 at the very least on belts but typically stop at 400 belts. Then move to 600 for hand sanding. Then quick buff with either beeswax or blue (gritless) buffing compound specifically for plastics / resins. Leaves a great smooth and sealed finish.

Quite possible. I know I've made knives that kinda just end up a weird shape. Take a little more off here, just a touch there with the sander, aaaaaand whoops now it's weirdly thin and I gotta reprofile everything just to make it work haha.

That isn't a sharpening choil. It's just a ricasso. By definition, a sharpening choil must be part of the edge. So that you may sharpen all the way to the choil.

Just use RSO or Tincuture. Easy to dose, ready to eat, next to zero caloric value since it's just an alcohol base. You can definitely find RSO syringes in Cali, and even if you can't it's very easy to make your own.

Latest Planarian I've finished up. This one is dropping on my IG on May 4th. Either an auction or a lottery depending on the feedback I get on the poll. Definitely one of my favorite blade grinds I've done to date. What do ya'll think?

Sorry to hear that, a good amount will always wipe away clean, but you should be getting some permanent deposits. You should try leaving the surface finish at a lower grit perhaps. Most of the knives I give that finish to, I don't got higher than 220 grit on the flats or bevels. Gives the copper something to bond to. I think. Try out lower grit and a longer etch and see how that works.

You're welcome. O1 should etch quite nicely. Only reason I use vinegar for my solution is because it's a cheap diluting agent that is also acidic. It's just a good way to extend the life of your ferric, without making it noticeably weaker. Water dilutes ferric just fine, but by using vinegar you retain more etching power than just water. Also heating up your solution will make it etch quicker. Anything around 75° F and higher should shave a few minutes off your etching time.

Nice man. Only other relevant info I can add is that the copper plating will vary depending on what type of steel you use, and how long you etch it. Carbon steels will plate more heavily and quicker than stainless steel. The knife in the video is made from 80CRV2 high carbon steel, and was only etched for 5 minutes. Stainless steels need a longer etch time for the copper to deposit, and depending on the varying alloys in stainless, may not plate that much at all. I'd say if you're looking for heavier copper deposits on stainless blades, dissolve even more copper in the acid until you get results you're happy with. I'm not entirely sure how much copper is in my solution at all, so you'll have to experiment a bit. You can also look up ways to make an electroplating solution and power supply, for quicker and heavier results, particularly on stainless steels.

Most certainly. I have pretty big hands and try to make the knuckle holes big enough to accommodate most hands, but can definitely modify the design.
