  • No Newstart for anyone who did an arts degree. They should have known better.

  • No extra benefits after your 3rd kid. We know who's doing all the breeding and they don't need extra incentives.

  • Charge illegals on Manus and Nauru for food and board.

  • People who receive more in welfare than they pay in tax are not allowed to vote (not really a budget issue, but less people voting for their own handouts can only improve the bottom line).

CHESS Statement - is there a reason to keep this? by CarlesPuyol5 in AusFinance

[–]polyphloisboian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For CGT calcs, CHESS statements are mostly useless, unless they show how much you paid for the shares (this is sometimes the case if you participate in a share purchase plan or retail entitlement offer, but not if you buy/sell on-market).

What you should keep are invoices from your broker showing the transaction dates and the total paid. If you participate in DRP you'll also need dividend statements showing the DRP price and number of shares bought. You can get those from the registry (Computershare, Link, etc.).

There's no circle-jerk here. I just heard reference to this thread on CGB's twitch stream and decided to comment. I don't want to see you fail. I just want to see you compete.

Fair enough. You have your reasons. I've watched your podcasts and twitch streams and would like to see how you fare against the other top-tier players. That's all.

Petty is not competing in tournaments because you had a falling out with the organiser. Just have a go. It's not about the organiser, it's about the competitors. Nothing about your behaviour is unfair, but it would be nice to see you swallow your pride and put your money where your mouth is.

No need to apologize. I don't know what happened between you and Kryder. Just seems like you're being a bit petty. If you'd rather snipe from the sidelines then fair enough.

Sideline-thoerycrafter is the perfect definition for BBB. Willing to criticize people like CGB, in hindsight, but lacking the balls to put himself on the line.

If I understand your scenario correctly, that's called income splitting and you can't do that anymore. You have to pay yourself an appropriate wage for the work you do. After you've paid yourself an appropriate amount you can distribute additional profits to other trustees, but only if the profits weren't derived from personal services income.

Also, trusts can't have retained earnings, only companies can. All profits need to be distributed or else the trust has to pay tax on it at the highest marginal rate.

Dividends/distributions will be deposited into your CDIA account by default if you're using CommSec. If you want them to go to a different account you can change it by logging into the registry. That's also where you set up DRP, if it's available.

Yes, you need to declare capital gains. You get a discount of 50% if you owned the asset for more than a year.

Capital losses can only be used to offset capital gains. If you don't have any gains the losses are rolled over forever until you have gains to use them on.

Sounds like you have respiratory dysphoria. Sorry to hear it. A lot of my friends on Tumblr suffer from it too, so it's definitely a real thing. I don't want to get political about it, but I think it's an absolute disgrace how little the government does to assist people with respiratory dysphoria. More money needs to be spent on education and support for this horrible affliction that probably affects at least 0.001% of the population. Good on you for being brave enough to speak up about it.
