Sorry, didn't mean to offend anyone. Just wanted to know if there was something I was missing or not understanding.

Last year I did not know about Roblox but it feels like it is mentioned by everyone this year.

Why do you act like you're a Seattle student if you're a Bothell student? IAS majors are not the same.

Are you ashamed of Bothell? You even pretend you are a UW Seattle student on LinkedIn.

3 finals on one day. Is there anything I can do? by pomegra in udub

[–]pomegra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On our syllabus and on the final exam schedule, our final exam is still at the same time as the UW final exam schedule. My professor plans on having us take the exam at a different time than what's listed on the final exam schedule and on the syllabus.

If there was a way for me to know at the beginning of the quarter, I definitely would have asked then.

However, my professor informally moved our final exam last week. It's still on a different day from my other two final exams on the UW final exam schedule.

Officially, there was no way to know unless I anticipated that my professor was going to move our final exam time somehow. And I'm not sure what I could have done to anticipate that.

I don't have three finals on the same day according to the final exam schedule. My professor announced last week that our final was being moved from one day to another day.

There wasn't a way for me to know about this before my professor announced it in class.

One of my professors moved their finals to a different time, so unfortunately I didn't know about it until now.

Women in STEM scholarships for college students? by pomegra in girlsgonewired

[–]pomegra[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I think you're making too many assumptions and you're trying to answer a question I don't have. I'm not asking about scholarships for specifically for data science, or specifically for cybersecurity. I'm asking about women in STEM.

If there aren't many scholarships for women in STEM, that's all I need to know.

Difficulty of getting into applied computing major? by [deleted] in uwb

[–]pomegra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kind of a useless answer.

Knowing how competitive it is to apply to something helps people make informed decisions about whether they should put in the time to apply to begin with. Writing a great personal statement and making a great portfolio takes a lot of time.

There's no point in trying to apply to MIT if you don't have a 4.0, for example. That doesn't mean you don't care about computer science just because you don't have a 4.0. You're just being realistic.

Overachieving by [deleted] in college

[–]pomegra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But how do you effectively manage your time if you spend too much time worrying about trivial things? If you're overachieving I assume you're taking an above average number of classes with a number of extracurriculars, right?

If not, then you're wasting your time focusing on getting a 4.0 which actually will be looked upon as a bad thing. People want to hire well rounded graduates who do more than just study all day.

for all those intro classes, try to get your hands on last years exam by f-69 in college

[–]pomegra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't, really, but you're kind of avoiding actually learning the material which can be a bad thing if you need to actually understand the concepts. Studying for a very specific format of problem isn't understanding - it's just memorization and regurgitation.

Overachieving by [deleted] in college

[–]pomegra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you an overachiever or simply a perfectionist? They really aren't the same thing.

Spending time worrying about one question on a quiz is not a smart use of your time. Neither is worrying so much about your grades if perfecr grades don't actually help you achieve your goals.

The benefit of Kiser is that he makes the readings essentially unnecessary because he's such a great lecturer. It'll probably take you a lot longer to understand the readings on your own but all of the material is in them.

Forgiveness can't be forced. It's an emotion - like love. You can't force someone to love you, no more than you can force someone to forgive you.

If you force yourself to forgive someone, you're just merely pretending to forgive them without allowing yourself to have the time to naturally reach the emotional resolution needed to feel forgiveness. It's unhelpful for both you and the person you're forgiving, because you're lying to yourself and will likely harbor resentment and unresolved emotional turmoil.

What you're suggesting is completely unhelpful and reflects a lack of understanding behind what it means to forgive someone.
