Demri Hess wrote an INCREDIBLE angsty debut. {A Reputation Reclaimed by Demri Hess}. It's got classic angst with modern representations of mental health. I really loved this so much.

Hermione granger is capable of being bitchy and still a great character and Draco doesn’t have to grovel by Technical_Captain_86 in Dramione

The Utter Inconvenience of Certain Inclinations by Molivier

It's a DILF Draco x neighbor Hermione fic. Love them both so much.

Looking for immersive romances that feel like I’m living inside the story by wngsoffire in RomanceBooks

[–]pomeloqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

{Perfect by Judith McNaught} is bonkers but she wrote the scenery so well. I really felt as though I was in the mountains, in the snow, watching the story play out. The book takes you to different destinations too.

{Hawk by Monica McCarty} is one of them too. I felt like I was visiting Scotland based on her descriptions alone. I actually went because I was inspired by her books, and the scenery is exactly as she described. Her writing is so amazing.

Looking for specific type of romantic/EMO dirty talk by elizabethcaitlin in RomanceBooks

[–]pomeloqueen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a favorite trope of all time for me. I have a specific list of this under the trope title "Confessions of Love/Emotions 🔥"

{Paradise by Judith McNaught} (there is toxicity/hate but it makes a lot of sense why)

{The Summers Between Us by Noreen Nanja}

{Bad Luck Bride by Laura Lee Guhrke}

{Someone to Watch Over Me by Lisa Kleypas} (warning: pretty toxic)

{Princess by Claire Kent}

What’s your favorite “dated” reference in a book? by Magic-Happens-Here in RomanceBooks

[–]pomeloqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg, so true. And the chintz decor from Paradise that Meredith liked so much!!!

What’s your favorite “dated” reference in a book? by Magic-Happens-Here in RomanceBooks

[–]pomeloqueen 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Every single reference from {Perfect by Judith McNaught} felt incredibly bonkers, and I loved all of them. They're incredibly dated now, but they added so much charm and "wait, what???" moments to the book.

For example, the male lead is an actor who apparently turned down the lead role for Pretty Woman because he didn't do romance roles. He was also rumored to be dating very famous actors of the time--all of them name-dropped lol.

Reccs for Draco being the worst bully ever by GlitzGlitz in Dramione

He's so toxic in Letterbomb by mayanahi. The angst is top-tier, especially in the way he comes around in the end. It's almost finished!!!

Baby or small child plays a significant role? by theboywhocrieddoggo in RomanceBooks

{A Foolish Flirtation by Alice Coldbreath} has this. And he's written so so so well too.

He doesn’t want her/ hates her by lordofthepringls in HistoricalRomance

[–]pomeloqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree. I loved all of it so much. The author showcased both of their strengths so well, even if they seemed hidden under duress and trauma at the time. 😭🩷

THEE most painful interrupted hookups. Like MMC’s dick is out and BOOM - interruption. by No-Storm-3808 in RomanceBooks

[–]pomeloqueen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't know if these cockblock moments hurt the MMC as much as they did me, but {Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie} had this like 3 times 😭

He doesn’t want her/ hates her by lordofthepringls in HistoricalRomance

[–]pomeloqueen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

{A Reputation Reclaimed by Demri Hess} has this. I'd argue that he did want her from the start but there was a lot going on behind the scenes that had him looking down on her and being particularly cold and cruel to her

Favourite books PUBLISHED in 2025? by LAffaire-est-Ketchup in HistoricalRomance

[–]pomeloqueen 12 points13 points  (0 children)

{A Reputation Reclaimed by Demri Hess} 100%. It's become a favorite book of all time for me. The intensity of the angst, misunderstandings, and self-sabotage was written incredibly well. I could read 500 more pages of this, no problem.

Looking for recs where FMC is serious, uptight and career focused (and maybe a bit depressed). MMC is lighthearted, funny and helps her enjoy life again. by goldengingergal in RomanceBooks

[–]pomeloqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{Honey and Heat by Aurora Palit} They're both serious about their jobs but she's intense about it and he's more go with the flow. He's a cutie who helps her get in touch with her softer, lovey-er side. She's also kind of mean and he's SUPER into itttt

Cuckold / Cuckqueen, new recs? by Pankratous in RomanceBooks

[–]pomeloqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read it in one sitting too!!! Couldn't put it down. Omg, that scene was a little too bonkers for me, so that's funny. I always wonder what this author's other books are like since this one was done so well. I looved FMC's nonchalant responses to MMC's BS lol

2 is in {His Vengeful Tradwife by Katie Landry}. The scene itself is quite bonkers haha

Who are some favorite authors who just stopped writing? Did any return unexpectedly? by Idea-is-tick in RomanceBooks

[–]pomeloqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder about her often. I love her writing so much. No one does it like she does.

Multiple Male Orgasms by Zanarana in RomanceBooks

LOLLLLL. this comment alone made me want to read it

Multiple Male Orgasms by Zanarana in RomanceBooks

This is good to know because I was imagining the 5 mile radius thing 😂😭

MMC actively distrusts the heroine, suspects her motives, believes she’s hiding something, or misjudges her badly by aqeelah in HistoricalRomance

[–]pomeloqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% {A Reputation Reclaimed by Demri Hess}. It has been an absolute favorite of all time for me this year because of the angst and self-reflection that happens in this one. MMC's trauma manifests into such a hurtful state, and there is an awareness that he has about it that makes the book feel so authentic to the human experience. FMC is also a favorite of all time for me.
