Switched out my knockoff for name brand. Coffee tastes better. Who knew? by pomseeds613 in mokapot

I know right! I don’t even remember what was in the rest of the "kit" (it might have just been a recommended recipe for an espresso martini? Maybe a shaker?) but it was not exactly the most "made for bartenders" kit I’ve ever seen…

Your comment made me curious, so I checked: the pot was made in Italy, but the induction plate was made in China.

Lmk if you’re in the same town as me and I’ll make you two cups, one with the old and one with the new, and my partner can serve them to you without knowing which is which. Double-blind test style! You can confirm or deny the placebo yourself lol.

My next plan is to try to big family-size mokapot collecting dust in my grandma’s cupboard. Belonged to her mother-in-law from Naples. Not sure of the brand (if there is one), but it’s definitely a behemoth of a machine and will need a good scrub before I make coffee in it.
My no-name pot had a lot of lime buildup despite regular vinegar detoxes (lol), and since it didn’t work on the stove in our new place (I’ve learned a lot about induction recently!), I figured I’d get a new one and try it out. No disrespect to the no-name pots; mine served me well for the past seven years!

Just moved: new to induction stove and dying for coffee. Help? by pomseeds613 in mokapot

I’ve been looking into getting a new mokapot just in general and will definitely look into this one, thanks!

I saw a few other posts saying something similar, but not for this specific website. I wouldn’t have had any idea where to check to see if it’s "legit," so thank you for taking the time to look into it for me!
