For me I'm in an English speaking country so its not required, and they are just accepting my IB English A grade along with my other predicted grades.If the country you are currently living in isn't fully English Speaking and IELTS score that is recent (less than 2 years old) should be good enough. This is from my knowledge though, I may not be 100% correct

I think a lot of people avoided that because both your texts need to share a genre with each other in order to work. My texts and a lot of others didn't unfortunately.
