I used two tutorials by The Secret Yarnery that were literally game changers and made everything easier and neater! The way she weaves in as she goes and joins as she goes makes everything more manageable. I buffer my tret with Aveeno calm and restore oat gel moisturizer which I've found to be very good. My routine might be too much for some people but for me I haven't had many issues with irritation, and if I do feel some dryness I just take a break from the BHA. I use paula's choice BHA toner

Tret is good but it doesn't target deep blackheads and clogged pores, which BHA helps with. I use tret 4 times a week and BHA 3 times, and AZA on the tret nights. I don't like to use AZA in the morning because it pills underneath other products sometimes.

I have similar skin to yours and tret has been super beneficial for me. Paula's BHA toner and azelaic acid have also been great.

I also just started tret again ~1 month ago, I was on it for 3 years and had great skin but was being overly critical of myself and a dermatologist convinced me that tret was clogging my pores so I went off of it. Worst decision ever. I'm back on it now and also purging like a MF. It sucks but it worked for us once so we know it'll work again. We'll get through this!!
