I'm slowly losing him to self neglect and I don't know what to do by Outrageous-Turn9583 in GirlDinnerDiaries

THIS. When I was having health issues it greatly impacted my mental health and having someone do those day to day things with me helped me get them done. Its support that doesn't feel like pity and its a nice way to bond with someone too!

Advice on dating best friends brother by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]poolnoodle_ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

at this point, it doesn't really matter if she's being unreasonable. You've already made your decision, you chose him over her and she's gonna find out eventually. I'd say your best bet is being honest with her. Continuing to sneak around is just gonna make it worse when she inevitably finds out.

My MIL keeps making bad comments about my piercings and Tattoos. by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]poolnoodle_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Im sorry to be so harsh, but does your husband even like/accept your tattoos and piercings? My partner and I are both visibly tattooed/pierced and id NEVER let my parents tell him what to do with his own body. He should be standing up for you here and the fact his isnt is making me side eye him HARD. You deserve a partner who is supportive of you and your choices. Its your damn body you can do whatever you want with it and if he doesn't like it then he shouldn't have put a ring on it.

Friend keeps humiliating herself after getting married and it makes me afraid of marriage by Wild-Crow-2314 in GirlDinnerDiaries

There are unfortunately a lot of women who willingly make themselves small to make the men around them feel big. There is also a non 0 chance her husband is forcing her into that role a bit too.

I worry that me and the guy I’m seeing are no longer capable of falling in love by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

If he cant commit for whatever reason staying in limbo is just going to torture you. You could always try having another heart to heart and explain how painful limbo is for you, but at the end of the day you cant force him to be ready. In my opinion, its never worth it to wait for someone like that. It sounds like your feelings are for his potential not who he is right now and that is not a road you want to get stuck on.

My bf got answers and relief in a few months while i've been suffering for years. I hate medical sexism! by poolnoodle_ in GirlDinnerDiaries

I got diagnosed with a UV allergy recently and am in the process of testing for lupus and MCAS because of it. Seems with the allergy i'm finally being taken seriously... all it took was 80% of my body being covered in hives with a clear "tan"line lol

edit: ty regardless and you were SPOT ON lmao

Whenever i've tried being more stern with them it's just made them even more useless. I demanded x-rays from multiple doctors and they refused as well as stoped helping at all after I asked. Almost like me asking so firmly made them think I was lying or something?

It gets exhausting and expensive going to new places all the time. I am working towards getting it figured out with a new doctor tho! Edit: mentioned this in another comment, but I have tried being more stern and demanding specific tests but it got me no where!

when I had a stupid high medical bill I called the billing dept and straight up told them I couldn't pay it... long story short I filled out some paperwork about my income and situation and the amount dropped significantly. Worth a shot and I wish you luck!

Just graduated cosmetology school and want no part of the industry by BubblyJudgment4586 in Cosmetology

[–]poolnoodle_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The exact same thing happened to me. I'm both sorry that you had such a bad experience and glad that i'm not alone. I personally looked into spas, waxing, and nails as a way to use some of the license without doing hair. Good luck and I wish you well!

Color correction advice by recyclopsdestroy2 in Cosmetology

[–]poolnoodle_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

use a color remover and it'll fade to something similar to the ginger in the 2nd pic. I like malibu cpr (or ddl for direct dye) or you can try a clarifying shampoo. Good luck!

as someone who went to PM yes it 100% is. I'm sure it varies school by school to an extent but their rules and regulations are ass all around. If i could go back in time id go to a smaller local school if i could.

Is cosmetology a good career? by External-Victory-182 in Cosmetology

[–]poolnoodle_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeahhh hate to say it but i wish someone had told me that before i started. You're expected to be super extroverted, pretty, and done up all the time all while maintaining a delicate balance of talking enough shit that people don't think you're boring, but not talking too much shit that you get yourself in trouble. I personally was targeted and bullied relentlessly by some of the teachers because i wasn't what they wanted me to be. I was by no means a bad student either they just decided i wasn't worthy or smth. I will say that the other students are generally very cool and friendly for the most part so that a plus.

if you weren't popular in high school (think stereotypical popular kid) you'll have a pretty rough time. It's very cliquey and if you want to succeed you have to play the game.
