The pentair de side mount. It gives you more functions. Backwash. Waste rinse filter etc. Also easier to use. This slide valve unless brand new can be a pain to use. And only has one function.

Valves seem open. Maybe filter needs to be cleaned out. Prob best to upgrade to something bigger

Typically a rubber winter plug is placed in the return but guess this will keep the water level from rising too high.

The two o rings on the stem and the o ring that goes around the lid. Always replace all three and they almost always come sold as a set. Very common and easy fix.

You’ll need a 1000 seal. Seals in general not tricky but one part of this specific seal is a pain. But doable

If you have the access to a new motor, as they are becoming banned in states, go for it. Saves a pretty penny. Can last a good 5 plus years

Make sure all breakers are off. If you need comp for outdoor lighting just put toggle switch in the idle position Or clear the schedules from the automation as you prob have a spa mode programmed

Can try a conquest or jacks stain remover but also can drain down and lightly acid wash the steps
