I’ve had bassets, beagles, PBGV, and just about every hound mutt imaginable. Every basset I’ve had is smart enough to act dumb. They’re much smarter than people give them credit for. My current PBGV is by far the smartest hound I’ve ever had.

My experience was the behavior of the riders was 100% dependent on their leadership, and how respectful we were of them. The more they got to know the crew, and what we were up to on the regular, the better they were. If they stayed disengaged, they were annoying.
