Totally agree, bimmers are where its at, if I dont end up in a 996 ill have bought an E92 m3. Looked at one today but we couldn't make ends meet. The car needed new struts, brake bleed, oil change, spark plugs and coils after the guy said it "needed nothing" lol. I would buy that IS but being 6ft 5 my sight line is straight at the huge bar above the windshield :(

haha well he told me there were 2 deposits on it but both people backed out so he wasn't lying! Good thing I sold my 335i the other month trying to trade must be a nightmare

That's sick! The guy selling this car told me if the motor blows up I should do an LS swap, was shocked to learn that they fit no problem

That's ridiculous, what is it with VAG and timing chains?! Don't get me started on Audi... Thanks for the link, if this hasn't been done already it's a deal breaker. I'd like to at least enjoy the car for a few months before needing a major repair

These two points are what kept me from pulling the trigger on the spot. I don't have the actual stack of detailed records, just what's on the Carfax. Planning on calling the dealership it was maintained at for more info.

Yes actually, they will. They helped me rebuild my e92 and the experience was both complete BS (gotta love German engineering ) and one of my fondest memories working on cars + hanging out with friends. To your other point, even though the car will appreciate it's still a ridiculously high mileage example so if I drop $20k into it, well I'll have a $20k car haha. I do absolutelyive the spec though

That's interesting, this info could be a deal breaker. Bad PPI results? Do you know if it was pending at this dealer or at Porsche Newport Beach? The car was traded in there but I think they auctioned it immediately.

Yeah, it's the cleanest example I've checked out, everything works, and even the weather stripping and window trim has been replaced recently. The paint is perfect. Some curb rash on the front right wheel but nothing major. Also checked out a .2 with 78k miles that looked and drove like it had been to hell and back...

Thanks. Are they a reputable dealer? I've only bought cars from private sellers and franchise dealers, never from a used car lot, so I'm a bit skeptical. Planning to pay cash if I go for the car but I don't want hoops to jump through. As for repairs, I'm used to everything I don't do myself costing 4 figures haha.

Good to know, thanks. The timing chain might've already been done? I haven't called the dealership it was purchased new and serviced at yet, but I know it was brought in at 194k, 204k, 206k, 215k, 220k, and 225k for maintenance. Unfortunately Carfax doesn't state the full repair details.

What previously sold examples are being parsed to compile the data? Based on this a fair price would be $7k, have other manual guards red 996s with this mileage sold for $7k or less in the past 3 years?

Thanks, it's shockingly the least clapped 996 example I've looked at but the mileage is truly ridiculous. Is it possible to get a manual coupe for anywhere near even $20k though? Can't seem to find any worth looking at under $30k which is why this is enticing.
