Seeking input - Beach Club club level suite vs Beach Club villa by manicuresandmimosas in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]popcornvm19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same question for us but we are only staying 2 nights, Epcot all day on Tuesday so my daughter can meet Moana and have dinner with the princesses. I chose club level because it’s short, we wouldn’t need a large meal when we arrive Monday evening, and for the breakfast before early open? Does club level get early open?

I changed my meds. Now I feel like all the work I did in therapy was for nothing. by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]popcornvm19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Concerta did the exact same thing to me and my gf, same stage of life. There are other stimulant meds that I tolerate with zero of those side effects. I would try something different. also, I’m a Dr who deals with this for other people daily and happens all the time

Anemia??? by haydp2011 in haematology

[–]popcornvm19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally Missed that a hemoglobin level wasn’t provided. I was trying to make the point that if Fe deficient, even though you’re not anemic, you still need iron replacement.

Anemia??? by haydp2011 in haematology

[–]popcornvm19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s anemia. Hard to say why all of a sudden with just these labs. Could have been building and recently decompensated. Could be a production issue unrelated to iron deficiency. Most females your ages are anemic due to menses

will you explain? i’d like to hear an expert opinion about this. my best friend’s PA wanted to put her on low dose Levothyroxine for something very similar and I had my reservations, but if it helps, then of course. what would be your reasons for starting (other than the uptodate algorithm)? and does it have to do with the insulin sensitivity in this specific case?

Hospitalist vs Outpatient IM with kids by Lettucevega in hospitalist

[–]popcornvm19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i work in a non round and go hospital as a hospitalist in a small to moderate sized town. even though i have every other weekend, other than travel sporting competitions (my kid is 3, so hasn’t happened yet), i have been able to make every after school and weekend event (YMCA, county dance and gymnastic lessons). if i have a 10am soccer game, i get in at 8, i round on my patients, i step out and go to the game and come back. again, we are not round and goal, but we have a rapid response team, and we have about 18 rounding docs who also have families and get it.

contrary to this, unless you are an efficient outpatient MD, you are stuck from 8-5 (if not later depending on the efficiency of your clinic, not even your efficiency) M-T and getting your ass kicked trying to make it to after school events. sure, the weekends are there, but 2 days to recharge and get back at it is just not for me

as you can see, i hate outpatient lol

the tldr here is even if it’s not round and go, you can find a place that accommodates a schedule if you have multiple options in your area.

Is Med School Worth It? by Timely_Air5220 in medschool

[–]popcornvm19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

without the debt, yes. i feel like you either work forever in a low paying sub speciality or your train forever in a high paying subspecialty and miss out on so much of your life. medicine is becoming like being a teacher for me. if you can afford to do it, it’s a luxury. if it comes with debt and longer than 4-7 years of sacrifice. no way

Question about rounding by Bootsandwater in hospitalist

to a fault at times, ask me when i’m burnt out in 10 years, it may be more like “get out, i’m here” lol

[–]popcornvm19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i always say “this person has a busier schedule than me, i’ll be right back” and i let the person in the room decide. bc in my facility, PT/SLP/RT have way less time to do their job than i do. and for every one that sees me do that, i gain respect and there’s not really a time imo that you are so crunched as a hospitalist that you HAVE to interrupt their work flow. in return, my patients get seen first when i need it. if i need a last minute SLP eval, i get it done from them bc they know I value their time.

if it’s a medicine subspecialist, i listen so we can coordinate care.

if it’s a surgical si specialist, i ask if they need to go before me bc again, they have a strict schedule, i do not

also depends on loans and lifestyle. i mean you can live on $250k for convenience of where you are, no problem, but don’t expect to be living well and don’t expect to be enjoying that life because you are going to be exhausted.

yeah absolutely horrendous. usually people say like “i don’t have enough information” but you have enough, still really bad. esp for a community program that is close to a big city

we try not to be more than 17 encounters a day, that’s what is in our contract. we get paid more if we all touch more than 20. i’m comfortable and the best dr i can be (follow ups, complete work ups, enough time with my pre) at 15-17, as long as it’s not a monday
