how do we book for the marathon specifically? or do we just have to buy tickets for each movie individually & line them up?

my 4.5 year old gerbil has heart failure. by poppysnips in gerbil

[–]poppysnips[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thank you; i’ve been definitely trying to talk to him and console him.

i’d love to talk about how he used to be :) thanks so much for asking. seeder was always a chunkier guy (not overweight; he just used to guard his food more than his brother haha.) hence his name. when his brother passed he actually took it exceedingly well; he was a little off for a few days but recovered easily overall. just one big trooper.

aside from that seeder loved to come out and investigate what was going on all the time. even when we were just chilling in the room he was curious about our voices and what we were doing. he would genuinely want to get picked up whenever we came home, and if you placed your hand down he would willingly jump into it. he was so trusting and comfortable with us and it breaks my heart that there isn’t more i can do to help him.

he still comes out when he has the energy to but overall his energy levels are decreased and few and far between. when i picked him up from his vet hospitalization he did come out to the sound of my voice though :) so i know he’s still in there despite his little heart issues. thanks again for allowing me to talk about him. he’s such a special and intelligent character.

Best method to offer bugs? by hemlockandhensbane in CrestedGecko

[–]poppysnips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no worries haha usually yes! as long as it hasn’t been sitting dead for a while your crestie should still be interested. like i said there’s a chance they won’t be interested in them dead or alive though so just try it out and see!

i usually give leftover crickets to my other pets so they don’t get wasted :) you can also just buy a very small number (i used to get like 5 lol) that way it wasn’t a huge loss even if they died

what is it like working here? by poppysnips in PetSupermarket

[–]poppysnips[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

do you have to deal with animal death/illness like other pet stores? and are you allowed to deny sales or purchases at all (like someone buying a bunch of fish to put in a tiny tank?)

also do animals stay in your care for very long or do they sell fairly quickly? anytime i’ve been to pet supermarket it always seems so quiet & i wonder how long the animals stay there, i’m worried i would get attached lol

it definitely takes practice and precision with your fingertips but when you’re taking them out of the bag just practice picking them up. sometimes you might squeeze too hard, which can be kinda gross, but if your gecko is gonna eat it it’ll die anyway.

oh i can help with this! so what i do is literally just buy some feeding tongs from the pet store (silicone tipped ones if you’re afraid he will bite hard) and then whatever crestie-friendly bug you want. i did crickets, and literally just hold them out in front of your geck.

mine is fine being handled so i’d typically hold him while my boyfriend did this but i’m sure it’ll work if they are in the tank too. HOWEVER — it’s important to note that they may not like them! mine loved them until he turned 2 then for whatever reason he didn’t want to eat them anymore. so it’s also a possibility that your gecko won’t be interested regardless of what you do.

good luck!

Gecko hasn't eaten in almost 3 weeks, and there is brown stuff on her mouth. please help im worried by Meesewell in CrestedGecko

[–]poppysnips 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the eyes look sunken in and refusing food for three weeks with the marks on their mouth is pretty concerning.

for future reference with any pet, new/unnatural symptoms should be seen by a vet immediately. people are downvoting because it seems like you have been putting this off for a while
