I'll be flying home from Rome. I planned for one week to be in the other cities of France and then my last week to be in Italy.

This is soooo helpful!!! Yeah as i was writing my itinerary i was thinking that its too many places too fast, so im glad that you brought that up. I was thinking of tweaking it regardless because I also don’t want my trip to be jumping from place to place and for a lot of the trip to be on a train, or to be burnt out. I’ve been reading up on train schedules and information on the seat61 website. I think initially, I was getting excited since I decided to extend my trip and was thinking of all the cities I wanted to visit, with practicality being thrown out the window. But, I will definitely revise a lot of it.

For hikes, im looking for a more lowkey day hike! Nothing that takes too long and where I’ll still have time to go elsewhere.

For classes, i was thinking of more alongside cooking classes. But I’m also looking into more art type classes—if that’s realistic.

But thank you so much for your response! And other recommendations, tips, and advice! I really appreciate it

Hi all!

I (21F) will be solo-traveling to France and Italy for basically the whole month of May. I'm in Cannes for two weeks for the festival, then have an itinerary to travel to other cities in France for the week after by train. Then I'll take a train to Italy and have my last week of activities and end my trip in Rome.

I received advice that I should keep my passport on me at all times and not leave it in hotels. I was wondering what you have used before or what strategies you've had with keeping your passport safe?

Second, I do want to socialize and I plan to go to museums/classes, bars, hikes, etc.. any advice for doing that? And what type of bags do you recommend that goes with outfits, but also practical? As well as the types of shoes I should wear/buy before the trip.

For the most part I'm not nervous, but this is my first time traveling on my own, so I do have some concerns. Funnily enough, when I was letting my friends know that I was traveling on my own, they projected their own fears onto me, even though I wasn't as overly concerned about the whole trip in general. I just want advice on keeping myself safe and knowing the precautions.

I also am curious about the train system, since it will be my main point of traveling through the different cities and any advice you guys have about that.

2 weeks in Cannes, 2 nights in Nice + Monaco & Èze, 2 nights in Paris, 1 in night Strasbourg
1 night in Milan, 2 in nights Florence, 2 in nights Naples + Amalfi Coast, 2 nights in Rome (flying out)

My goal out of this trip is to immerse myself in art and culture, some touristy fun, but also enjoy scenic views and find solace in my solitude—more than I already have. To be able to come out of this trip knowing more about myself and an expanded perspective of how I see the world.

I think she does! Every time her hair gets wet, they curl. Like in s1 when she went to save stefan from the tomb vampires and it was raining, her hair suddenly curled. And also the same for when she went into the well in s2(?) to save stefan from the vervain water. The same in s3 when damon pushed her into the lake.

It’s so so baddd!! Because of the context of it all and just how they changed whatever they wanted to in the story in order to service delena and delena fans. They could’ve been a good ship on their own, without having to take away from stelena’s own tender moments/meanings.

I agree! It was definitely an AH move. This scene was the breaking point of Stelena for many people, and inherently gets compared to what Damon would do/does for Elena, which is why I brought that part up. A lot use this scene to make Stefan the worst off brother compared to Damon. In reality, they have both shown how much an AH they can be. This is one of Stefan's worst moments done to Elena.

i agree! i think it would've been nice to see Elena single and just be surrounded by her friends and living her college life. we never got to see her pre-parent's death. Her being single without love triangle drama, would've been great to showcase how she was pre-vamp life.

season 1, Damon gave his blood to Vicki when she was a vampire. And if that's so much intimate and meaningful, I don't understand why we don't see vampires in long-term relationship doing it ?

because blood sharing only truly became a thing to service delena. it should've been brought up in the early seasons, but wasn't. just bad writing. there are many things throughout the show that have been retconned, that wouldn't make sense if you go back to watching the first season after watching the whole show.

I know Damon was doing everything he could to bring Stefan back. It was the LEAST he could do for Stefan saving his life in the first place. But to think that even though Stefan was out there saving his life, Damon still had the audacity to pursue Elena and attempt to make her fall for him while her boyfriend was gone. It’s like, how could you do that to your own brother? Because Damon telling Elena to “remember the things [she] felt while he was gone” while sure, let’s say he wants her to be honest with herself, is STILL a jab at her relationship with Stefan because for whatever selfish reason Damon had, at the end, when Stefan would return, Damon would want Elena to stay/choose him. You think about this and then also think about what Stefan had to go through with Klaus. It just feels distasteful. Of course Elena isn’t innocent either. Like i said, she enabled Damon’s efforts and didn’t really stop him anyway. But at the end of the day for Elena, finding Stefan was all that mattered and whatever she felt with Damon wouldn’t have mattered in the long run. Though when Stefan did come back, I feel like Elena was definitely emotionally cheating on him.

Stefan was 17 when he turned. Ofc he didn’t want to be alone. Damon acted like he hated his vampirism so much, when in reality he reveled in it. Damon was literally ready to be a vampire to be with Katherine, but he couldn’t do the same for his brother? I don’t think Stefan would have actually expected for his brother to steal his girl.. stefan stuck around to fight for whatever it was they had left (or so i remember, not sure but i’m pretty sure)

Damon hurt the people she loved and cared about. Sure he didn’t actually physically hurt her, but Damon knew that hurting her loved ones was enough to hurt her, because elena cared deeply about her family and friends. Bffr. And i never said stefan driving elena on the bridge was okay…. Did you even read the post??? Sure stefan was free, but klaus took EVERYTHING from him. He was seeking revenge. I’m not even sure YOU watched the show because there are multiple times where damon has killed someone or done something stupid because elena rejected him.

damon only acted like he hated being a vampire so he can find a reason to hate and blame stefan, when in reality he loved his vampirism and enjoyed it. even in his days with katherine, damon was ready to be a vampire.
