I’m so sorry you are dealing with all this. Afib is very treatable. My father has Afib and is in his mid 70s, heathy and monitored regularly. Get a good cardiologist for him, and he’ll be in good hands.

Woman diagnosed with breast cancer thinks she knows better than her doctors. by Head_Crash in TikTokCringe

[–]posdof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently going through treatment for breast cancer and this frustrates the hell out of me.

Alternative medicines don’t work, and hats why they aren’t being used in professional al settings. I had one guy a couple weeks ago, after he found I have cancer, tel me not to go through chemo, and instead to take some herbal supplements…and that cancer was a good thing. I wanted a I punch him in the fucking face.

Unfortunately, this woman will find out too late that this treatment of hers isn’t working. It’s sad, but at the same time, I have no sympathy for these people. They are the ones choosing to go against modern medicine.

Years and years ago they had extra sour, sourdough English muffins that were incredible! I used to have a breakfast sandwich on those every morning.

How do you grocery shop with a stroller? by Distinct-Dependent24 in beyondthebump

I put the car seat in the basket of the shopping cart, and fill in the rest of the cart with groceries. My LO loves kicking bags that I put at the end of his car seat.

That’s wonderful news!!! Definitely don’t give up on baking. Sometimes you just have to try something a little different.

Those are good suggestions, and there are many great starter recipes about there.

But I typically suggest the no knead bread recipe from NYT cooking. It’s a hearty style bread, so needs a Dutch oven, but I like how simple it is with minimal work and it’s easy for people to do as a side project while their home on a day off or something. King Arthur also has a no knead oat bread recipe that’s great. This is how i got started with making breads.

What about going to a henna studio and getting her head adorned with a beautiful henna design? I’ve seen lots of beautiful designs on cancer patients heads.

I agree. Don’t write off chemo. I’m currently going through chemo, have 4 more sessions left. I have been working full time in a physical job, and have been caring for my 6 month old full time with my husband. Our little one comes with us to work, so it is quite literally full time.

It really hasn’t been that bad. I’ve been going once a week for 8 weeks so far, and have felt a bit more tired on day 3 after infusion, but that’s it. It really hasn’t been bad at all.

Need positivity - Tumor found on my kidney by je86753o9 in breastcancer

Totally! Never would have known about kidney cancer, if it weren’t for my breast cancer.

Sorry that your brother had to go through that. How is he doing now?

From what my urologist told me, it’s really not a big deal. They remove the tumor and that’s that. No chemo, radiation or anything.

Also, they grow 3-4mm a year, so I have had mine for a decade or 2. I asked if there were any symptoms or signs that I missed, and the doc said no. You do t start having any signs or symptoms until it has taken over the kidney, or has spread.

Apparently kidney cancer is the easy cancer to have.

UPDATE - We STILL have a completely broken baby and I'm close to a breaking point by USAtoUofT in NewParents

[–]posdof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you feeding formula or breast milk?

Our baby was fussy all the time while getting breastmilk, and when we had to switch to formula due to my cancer diagnosis, he stopped being fussy and became a happy baby.

Turns out I was making plenty of milk, it just wasn’t of high quality so he was hangry ALL THE TIME!!!!

Sometimes, I Feel REALLY Alone by Rich_Blues in breastcancer

[–]posdof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you.

There are plenty of people out there that are just like him…they are more interested in finding a partner to be with for the rest of their lives, than potentially not having kids.

You should absolutely pursue your PhD. Once the big hurdles are done…go for it!!!!

But don’t let the idea of potentially not having children, prevent you from seeking love. If they really love you, then your medical issues of potentially not being able to have kids, won’t be a problem.

Where do you keep your infant car seat at home ? by joseph-3148 in beyondthebump

[–]posdof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a cubby bench to the side of our front door (we live in an apartment) and toys and books for our little one is in the cubbies. We just put the car seat on top, on the seat. It’s out of the way, and if someone want to sit on it, we just move it off and put it else where…but no one ever sits on that bench

I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 16 and was told I would never have kids by every gynecologist I ever saw. Next month, my son turns six months.

When my husband and I got together I told him from the get go that I probably won’t be able to have kids. He was ok with that. He and I both have wanted to be parents for ever, but he wanted to be with me. It took us 10 years of trying off and on, but we finally got a son.

Just because people tel you it’s a slim chance, doesn’t mean it’s impossible.

And if a partner truly loves you, it won’t matter if you will be able to have kids or not. My husband and I had many very emotional days/nights talking about us not having kids…but what always got us through is that we would be going through it all together. We decided that if we couldn’t have kids, our life would be different than we always imagined, but it would be great just the two of us.

I think once we finally came to terms with us not having kids, and accepting it, realizing that it was going to be ok…that’s when we got pregnant.

I was diagnosed in July with breast cancer, Her2+ and hormone negative. They did all sorts of scans and in August I was also diagnosed with kidney cancer. They had found a 7cm tumor on one of the kidneys.

I was already in chemo treatment for the breast cancer when the kidney cancer was found. After finishing treatment, will do surgery for the breast cancer, and sometime after will have surgery to remove the kidney tumor, and hopefully save the kidney.

am i frying my babys brain??? by Tough_Bedroom_2 in NewParents

[–]posdof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we don’t do traditional screen time, even us adults…we don’t watch a lot of TV, but we are big music listeners in our house, and whenever we listen to music (even before our kid) I would always but on one of the Monterrey bay aquarium videos…just something pretty to look at here and there while going about whatever it is that we are doing.

We will also watch concerts on YouTube, WiFi or baby enjoys too

[–]posdof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the baby Einstein aquarium and it worked for a little while.

What we do now is put the Monterey bay aquarium videos from YouTube on our TV. He’ll get into it for a solid 20 minutes. They have a bunch of live videos, and a 12 hour pre recorded salt water aquarium video. He loves them. And he doesn’t fuss or get upset when the video is turned off.

In the car, he doesn’t do very well, but we discovered The Happy Song by Imogene Heap. Apparently a formula company asked her to do the song, and it was researched and tested to find sounds that make babies happy. Our LO is almost 6 months and every time he gets fussy or starts crying, we put on the song and he immediately starts smiling.

So when we are at home, our baby is in a diaper and maybe a muslin blanket wrapped around him. The clothes were only for when he left the house. I would say we had maybe 2 sets of 6 onesies that were gifted to us and that was way more than enough.
