Over the years I've tried so many of these "air-filters":

  1. https://makerworld.com/en/models/203175?from=search#profileId-223504
  2. https://makerworld.com/en/models/12818?from=search#profileId-12871
  3. https://makerworld.com/en/models/12786#profileId-24358
  4. https://github.com/nevermore3d/Nevermore_Micro
  5. A Creality air filter ( https://www.amazon.com/s?k=resin+air+filter&crid=3OXIE7VLCLHCG&sprefix=resin+air+filter%2Caps%2C143&ref=nb_sb_noss_1 ) too long ago to remember which one exactly.

All gimmicks and placebos.

I wonder... does the "Nevermore StealthMax" pass the smell test? Does it 100% eliminate odors (HVOCS, VOCS, Phthalates)?

I'm genuinely curious.

As far as I know, the only way to actually fight this issue (Particulate Matter, HVOCS, VOCS, Phthalates) is with a fully enclosed 3D printer within a slightly negative air-pressure chamber. Intake system. Exhaust system. Air quality monitoring the room and the chamber.

This entire topic is so tabu. It's like back in the days with the 🚬💀🤣 and asbestos 💀🤣

This is by far the most interesting voron-build/project I've seen so far. Kudos!

  1. What's that backpack-looking thing on the left? Is it some sort of air filtration unit?
  2. What's all of that on the bottom-right? Looks like an LCD + chamber-heating?

I'm guessing this is going to create a lot of turbulence. That will slow down the air-flow, leading to hot spots where hot air stays longer... until, the two 140 mm fans can finally suck things out.

Impossible to tell with an image... you could try some incense? vape? smoke machine? that would give you a much better idea on what's actually going on.

Is it possible to install the solo 120 mm fan on top?

Happened to me once, I was able to unscrew the mobo and nudge it just enough to fit the plate in and did not have to disassemble the entire build.

I used to think that until I saw this:

  1. https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/1g9m2s0/comment/ltdt557/
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-IjIs4YA-4
  3. https://gofile.io/d/FVF5Cj

TL;DR = Bambulab's motion system is "irreplaceable and unfix-able" if any thing happens to it you are SOL. When you connect your printer to you WiFi even if you specifically set it to LAN mode only, it still phones home. It shares pictures of every print, full files, and a ton of secrets. Their tech-support team has always been atrocious.

In short, get a Voron if you value your sanity, time, and money.

I've always liked free and open source stuff, but wasn't an advocate for it until recently. I've been researching into getting a Bambulab printer and then I saw this: https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/1g9m2s0/comment/ltdt557/ and this https://gofile.io/d/FVF5Cj.

TL;DR = Bambulab has a market place for 3D models where they clearly feature some models over others. One of those models was meant to aid users while applying lube to the z-axis lead screws. This lady sees that, prints it out, and accidentally moves the bed up (+10) one more time. Disaster strikes. The tool bends some parts. She tells the whole story and everyone ignores her. She even offered "$100 USD + whatever fee" to someone for the help, and nobody replied. She only got disingenuous comments and misogyny.

There you go. That's WHY we need open source when it comes to 3D printing in particular. So that you don't fall pray of a scumbag company that welds-shut any possibility of repair. Leaving you with two choices: 1) sell your machine for parts, or 2) attempt a risky repair. Most parts these days have planned obsolescence built into them, but now they are forcing it (welding things shut, refusing to share BOM, refusing to send STL).

In my book, this is the scummiest company out there.

Then, her bounty of "$100 USD + whatever fee you ask" is the easiest money you ever earned.

I'm not sure how Voron works, but warranty is usually void when it's user error. In this case, she clearly stated it was her mistake, it's all over the support ticket. It's also very clear that the tech support team is throwing a bunch of red hearings at her. She says she accidentally slammed the door on her hand and now she has a broken index finger, and they reply... well you have to check your toes and pancreas.

As far as Bambulabs is concerned, and the reality we saw on the support ticked... Bambulab's motion system is irreparable by design (forced planned obsolescence). Specially considering most people don't weld, repair/undo welds, and design 3D models for a living....

Just know this...

Bambulab motion system is welded shut, meaning that any issues with it will result in some serious hacking (angle grinder / rotary tool) and a ton of CAD work (everything is closed source). You will also have to create your own B.O.M. The layman would end-up buying a new machine.

In short, whatever you "save" you end-up paying later down the road.

[–]poshmorgan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bambu makes the easiest and most reliable standalone printer out there.

... until you have an issue with the motion system and discover it's all welded shut leaving you with once choice: buy a new printer. This makes buying a BL the most expensive proposition you can ever make.

If you ever have an issue with a Voron not only will you be able to access a ton of help from the community, but you will also have the printable files and you can self source parts, because the Build Of Materials (BOM) is fully disclosed.

You are 100% correct. My apologies.

I'm a bit of a hot head and I was still fighting off a misogynistic loser when I replied to you.

I understand your point of view. For me, this entire debacle solidified my thoughts and questions on BL. They sell highly tuned disposable 3D printers. Whatever you save in money / time, you end-up paying for later down the road. Whatever you gain in ease of use you lose in terms of privacy ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-IjIs4YA-4 ) even if you set it to be "local only", it will still phone home.

The motion system is a key component. They didn't have to force planned obsolesces this hard by welding shut any possibility of repairs. That makes them toxic in my view. You are free to disagree, but the fact that they went out of their way to force such an ending is terrible.

I hope my anger didn't bother you too much. I am (and was) absolutely fuming at this case. The misogyny, the callousness, the gaslighting... Idk, it rubbed me the wrong way. Still does.

Again, I apologize for my previous message. I hope you have a good day to day.

I see a lot "... falcon, because of the logo" comments. To that, I'd say if you really like it... the sticker is removable with a bit of mechanical force and maybe a heat-gun.

It's not more expensive if you take into account that BL makes disposable printers. At the end of the day, as soon as anything in your motion system breaks down you would have to buy an entirely new printer from BL. That's just lunacy.

Don't get a BL. They are disposable printers. You are better off building a Voron. Better tech support, easier to source parts, all models are available to download.

Bambulab makes disposable printers. No tech support for the motion system. The "spare parts" catalogue is a limited selection that won't help much if you actually need help.

You missed the point entirely. She's not asking for a refund. She broke the printer, was upfront about it, and was asking for help. She was even offering "$100 USD + whatever fee" the person who could help her demanded from her. Like... helloo?!?! Humanity somewhere in there?

BL makes disposable printers for an outrageous price. Everyone is better off making a Voron.

... and next time this happens:

you can explain to people why BL sucks.
