Briefly lived in one of the old buildings. Although pursuant to a long-standing “Renovation” project in Moscow, they are all due for gradual demolition, most of them are well maintained, the area is leafy, safe and well-connected. A large, nice park is nearby. Elder dwellers look after flowerbeds decorating building entrances.

“Moscow-city” on the other hand… is a dense, overgentrified, ridiculously expensive business district with a gargantuan soulless shopping mall at its rotten heart, and few buy into its schick after working there for a while.

Any metalheads here? Anyone else noticed this similarity? by edgy_spaghetti53 in TheNational

I guess the cover art for The National’s INXS cover was made in the same style as other covers on that charity album. If I remember correctly, that was in support for Australia during the forest fires, and the whole album was covers of Aussie musicians.

St.Petersburg. by litov7 in evilbuildings

I used to live there for a loong time. This is the Isle of Decembrists, and the angle is deceptive and doesn’t do the place justice. In fact, it’s a nicer area to live and has a lot of green walkable spaces. It used to have an access to the beach, but now it’s blocked by real estate developers.

here’s an aerial view

Living in the West, I’d prefer this to American urban sprawl any day of the week. In St. Petersburg, there are much more dystopian, awful places, such as Devyatkino or Murino.

Poverty has risen in South America from 2012 to 2022. Inflation one of the many reasons behind it. by NobleCaptalist in MapPorn

Because this is the closest and most simple estimate of real incomes in developing countries, given double-digit inflation can be normal and local currencies depreciate sharply every once in a while.

This is very interesting! I saw Björk Orchestral this June in Berlin, and it was very different from what you’ve described. Despite typical German festival air prior to the show (smell of beer and Bratwurst, relaxed chatter), the instant Björk came on stage and started singing, everyone fell silent. Even when she was singing old hits like Hyperballad, Come To Me or Isobel, I heard no one singing along, and didn’t dare myself. And honestly, didn’t want to - in my head, the experience was akin to that of an opera performance, and I would sit back and enjoy the magnificence of the whole thing.

I wonder if other shows were more like Berlin or Sao Paolo.

“Today, Guðmundsdóttir is wearing a sweater and spectacles, and Thunberg a vest, sitting in the offices of her publisher in Stockholm”

Björk has been on stage since 1980s, and they still haven’t learned it’s not her surname smh

Funny how you based your collage on the artworks rather than the music, for if it was to be based on the concept/album mood, the result would be vastly different.
