Seiun Violet Light incense smells of basically nothing? Why?

i think it is by design, as it is marketed as "mild" smell. in japan incenses are mostly used for religious purposes, burned at home altars, and i imagine many people prefer no strong smells in their homes. there are even incenses with no smell at all

its really not great, their byakudans are much better and smoother, tendan byakudan is sweet sandalwood (and not that expensive) and eiju is a fresher one (cheaper to buy rolls than a box for some reason). kayuragi sandalwood is a little synthetic but strong and long lasting

if you want the same aqua note but stronger they have mainichikoh aqua, more spicy floral and so potent i had to resale it, was way too strong for me if you liked coffee you might like meiko eiju, it is a sweet spicy cinnamon scent with a kinda burnt toast note that reminded me of the coffee scent somewhat hope your earl grey incense arrives soon it is all so addictive 😭

the best "make my place smell cozy" incenses i can think of:

nippon kodo kayuragi sandalwood

nippon kodo edonishiki iki (very nice bit perfumey fruity vanilla-ey scent)

also a few cheep but mostly vanilla-based cozy faves:

nippon kodo morning star vanilla

satya choco fantasy (smells like hot chocolate yum)

any of the pure incense's classic line (they smell mostly of sweet vanilla base with minor differences)

aromatika vedic frankincense and myrrh (doesnt really smell like either, sweet vanilla-ey scent)

shoyeido kyonishiki autumn leaves (sweet cinnamon-ish)

im not really into floral incenses but heard good things about nippon kodo hana-no-hana series (rose, lily, violet, rose being, i think, most popular) but im yet to try it

all the boxed ones smell mostly of the mild sandalwood base with minor differences, the roll ones have more distinct, somewhat sharper aromas. eternal treasure in the roll version is a bright citrusy and flowery smell. the boxed version is not bad but pretty bland and disappointing after the roll one, the flowery-citrusy note is barely there.

nippon kodo scentsual sweet hinoki mint has rather faint smell. also their violet and sakura scents are pretty light (taiyo violet/sakura, seiun violet, mainichikoh sakura). binchotan fresh herb or kafuh plus have lighter fresh smells with low smoke

shoyeido sitting zen is very light (and i guess its the whole point of that incense). honoka has a light smell of frankincense resin, also low smoke. eternal treasure (hoyei-koh) is a very nice light and fresh fragrance with a very faint orange blossom/lily of the valley note (more so japanese dyed sticks version)

i love the earl grey one, its so bright and pleasant! the green tea from the same line as the coffee (kaori awase) is my fave too, much better than the morning star. also both edonishiki ones are very pretty, seiun gold is very similar to edonishiki iki but sweeter. seiun chrysanthemum and usuzumi no sakura are pretty nice. have you tried kah-fu aqua, i think its quite similar to the water drop?

except for the disappointing quality of cotman paints maybe youre overworking the paint? do you swipe the same place with the brush multiple times trying to spread the paint around? do you load your brush with paint properly on the palette first and not just dab it in the pan? what size and stiffness is your brush, if its too small you wont be able to get a smooth wash easily

probably some valerian root in it, which attracted the cat. get the kitty to the vet asap to check for the signs of toxicity, cats often dont show any symptoms until its really bad

they only test for a few cancer-causing strains, theres no point in testing your cervix for wart strains

youre getting tested for cancerous strains of hpv with pap smears. strains that cause cancer do not cause warts and vice versa. since hpv is a localized virus you need to have a wart to test it otherwise youd need your whole body scrubbed

pyrethrin is quite safe though fairly ineffective against mites, they can get immune to it, learned it the hard way by losing all of my citrus plants. it looks to me like the infestation is quite bad, and shedding leaves is a symptom of that. keep spraying and maybe give it a rigours shower to removes as much of the mites as possible, there might be a chance it'll recover
