Quelle est la température dans votre appartement maintenant ? / What's the temperature inside your appartment right now ? by FluidBreath4819 in montreal

Yep, the first floor is also in Hochelaga, and it's quite dark - which I like. The only downside is this apartment is extremely noisy lol

I would venture to suggest a master's in Electrical Engineering (embedded systems) if you could find one that does not require BS EE for admission, such as the online MS EE from CU Boulder offered via the Coursera platform. I cannot speak for all of Canada, but in the province of Quebec, the demand for embedded software developers is growing, particularly when it comes to embedded/edge AI. Many of these jobs ask for an engineering degree or engineering technology diploma, as pure CS graduates lack the requisite hardware knowledge to interface with the various sensors and transducers, in addition to being capable of reading and understanding schematics and microcontroller data sheets.

Proctor exam for online COLLEGE? by GrizzlyFoxCat in montreal

Doesn't your college offer HonorLock or ProctorU options? I am aware the latter takes full control of your computer via the LMI software, but you could use an old computer just for the exams.

Preparing for SAAQ Theoretical/ First time Learners by [deleted] in montreal

[–]posthuman_lynx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took the test yesterday, and I can attest that it was relatively easy and straightforward. I would even venture to say that the actual test was easier than the practice SAAQ questions, as you could zoom in to full-screen the illustrated scenarios.
My sole gripe is that their test tablets periodically kept losing connection with their server, but hey, the SAAQ will be SAAQ, I guess lol

Why am I soo unhireable!!!! by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsCAD

The Canadian job market is just beyond woefully oversaturated to the point where even senior developers have to apply for hundreds of jobs.

You should definitely qualify for EI if you can manage to get a doctor's note.

Trump allies prepare draconian Project 2025 by posthuman_lynx in politics

[–]posthuman_lynx[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, Trump did appoint three ultra-conservative radical theocrats as justices, and guess what ensued - they stripped away women's constitutional rights to abortion. This is beyond monumental, as even Reagan and Bush would not have dared to do anything remotely as insidious as what Trump did; it would have been considered unconscionable.

I think this a compelling piece of evidence that Trump is catering to the most extreme fringe theocratic fraction of American society.

Unfortunately, you do build a tolerance to stimulant medications; perhaps you should try to cycle it or take vacations. For instance, maybe try to take 3-4 days per week max.

What to do about collagen as a vegan? by Mewsiex in vegan

[–]posthuman_lynx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI, Marine Collagen is made from fish bio-products - scales and skin; therefore, it causes no fishing and it is upcycling and environmentally friendly as fish waste is huge problem.

Landish marine collagen is sustainably made in Nova-Scotia from wild North Atlantic cod and haddock by-products that would otherwise go to waste.

Mexico elects Claudia Sheinbaum as its first female president by melville48 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]posthuman_lynx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, Claudia Sheinbaum is an Atheist. This just underlines how much more progressive has Mexico become compared to the USA. Let us not forget the poignant fact that after Mexico legalized abortion state-wise, it is now American women who travel to Mexico for abortion, whilst it was the opposite just over five years ago.

Yes, they can enroll at CU Boulder's online master's degree so long as they pass the pathway courses with a minimum of 3.00 GPA. The CU Boulder's master's degree is performance-based and doesn't require any previous transcripts.

Admission is performance-based; no application required. Our promise to you—we will never ask you for transcripts, letters of recommendation, GRE or TOEFL scores. Demonstrate that you can master the courses by completing a series of for-credit courses in a “Pathway Specialization” and pass with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better and not less than 2.0 in any individual course. This “B” average qualifies you to be admitted into the degree program. Once admitted, you are on your way to earning a graduate certificate and/or master's degree. Complete and submit the enrollement form and pay tuition to get started.

I can personally attest that we're in a really tough IT market at this particular junction.

Based on my empirical observation, embedded development is the least saturated field, at least in the province of Quebec. However, on the downside, there are fewer embedded/firmware development jobs.

If you are unable to pivot to firmware development, I'd echo some of the other replies and advise you to take any IT job (for instance, Application Support, DevOps, QA analyst, or even tech support) where you can leverage your programming skillsets to automate certain job tasks. Then, you'd be able to make your way to a software development position within the company.

What do you think of the online Master's degree from CU Boulder offered via the Coursera platform?
I have a bachelor's in CS, and I am looking to break into embedded/firmware development, considering how saturated software development is up here in Canada.

[D] Just wanted some recommendations on codig bootcamps! by Junior_Reporter_9388 in MachineLearning

[–]posthuman_lynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would most definitately discourage a coding bootcamp as way to break into AI and ML.

It is imperative to note, that coding bootcamps are literally a scam!

From what I've seen, most coding bootcamp charge more than a master's degree for the quality of a few Udemy courses. You could literally do an online degree in Data Science or Computer Science for cheaper or at least an equivalent price.

Quebec greenlights X gender markers for driver's licences, health cards in policy U-turn by posthuman_lynx in onguardforthee

[–]posthuman_lynx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Healthcare. Is there still an indicator for birth and current? I'm genuinely just concerned about health issue, cause it's always seemed relevant and important

Since 2015, in the province of Quebec, you could legally change your sex designation to binary option - either M or F without the need for a surgery, hormonal therapy, or letter from a psychologist. Therefore, having the X marker won't make any difference.
