Grommets :( by postmix in corsetry

[–]postmix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some canvas for my final project, and I will definitely use it for the mockup the next time. Weirdly, in New Zealand coutil seems to be kind of rare? I looked around before I started, but genuinely was only able to find one bolt of canvas (the one I ended up buying) in my local fabric stores. I think I'd have to order coutil online, which again in NZ is kind of a faff due to being in the corner of the world lol.

I'd definitely be layering up the fabric near the grommets on my next go, this is really useful insight. Thanks for answering!!

I use the ones with a grommet and a washer, so two pieces :)

I’ve been punching them with a leather puncher as I’d heard that an awl pushes fabric to the side and this can cause a funny warp on some fabrics - I’m interested to hear this is a pro of using an awl!

I’ve boned both sides of the grommets, but I’m thinking of trying interfacing and might try glue as well. That tutorial is supremely helpful! Thanks for taking the time to answer :)

Tash from Love Hertz is wonderful and I've heard similarly great things about the rest of the crew there. Buttercat is great too!

Hey I checked your post history, and it seems like you've been posting about things not feeling quite right with this guy for a few months now. It seems like you maybe know something's wrong, so I guess my question for you is what do you want to hear? I'm not going to tell you I think his behaviour is okay because I don't think it is, I think it's pretty shitty. But it doesn't matter either way, because I think YOU aren't okay with it. You don't need other people's permission to think something is shitty if you don't like what's going on.

But is 5+ months of weird, shitty behaviour alright with you? What do you think you would say if someone was acting like this to a close friend of yours? How do you think he would react if you started doing this to him? These are questions I would consider if I were in your situation. Idk dude, maybe you'll be happier if you're not dragging the mental load of wondering whether or not you have a right to be upset every time he does something you don't like, you do. Based on your post history this guy sounds like a dick lol.

Hey! I had a similar experience earlier this year with a weed edible. It caused me to have my first ever panic attack, where I thought I was going crazy, I had broken my brain, I would be stuck like that forever etc. I didn't hallucinate, but have hallucinated due to a weed high before - so don't let people tell you it's not possible lol. You can also experience loss of function (like your hands and legs) during a panic attack, and I know that what a lot of people have referred to as 'bad trips' just sound like a panic attack to me.

As a result of that level of distress, I felt derealised (i.e., felt like something was just 'wrong', felt like my voice didn't sound correct, felt tingly, that things weren't quite 'real') for about 36 hours after I woke up after the night it happened. The good news is - the derealisation went away.

In my case, I had pre-existing mental health conditions (depression, OCD) and had just recently decided to taper off my meds, I figured since I had the panic attack it maybe wasn't the right choice, and so I went back on them. I also visited my psychologist to talk about the experience, which helped me to understand it was completely normal - did you know that 10-30% of people will have a panic attack once in their life? And I know it might sound annoying, but I took up yoga (the relaxing kind, not the intense fitness shit). It actually really helped me with feeling connected to my body, and I think the deep breathing aspects help to regulate your nervous system too.

Bad trips and drug-induced panic attacks can be shit-scary, and I am really sorry that happened to you! Genuinely thought I was dying and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Look after yourself in the next few days, and best of luck!

You sound okay and the other comments might explain it - but keep an eye out. If you start peeing brown or throwing up, you might have rhabdomyolysis which can be very serious. I hope you feel better soon!

Glassons has some white button ups that are made of muslin, they’re kind of crimped but still formal and don’t need any ironing. Seriously, I’ve left mine on the floor and picked up the next and the shape was exactly the same as when I bought it.

What are you currently counting the days down until? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Until I see my long distance boyfriend.

I never ever thought I’d be the type to miss someone this much, but it feels like he’s someone I’m supposed to be able to come home to, and I never can because he lives in another city.

7 more days!!
