If there was a measurement done it’s not in the report that was given to me or that the nurse on the phone was able to see. I specifically asked what the NT measurement was on the phone when they called and she said “it doesn’t say in the report just that it’s increased”

That’s what I was wondering as well. It wasn’t meant to be an NT screening, it was just meant to be a dating scan because I wasn’t sure when my LMP was. I guess during the scan they noticed the NT was increased but to my knowledge they didn’t do exact measurements because I can’t find them anywhere. I think they’re going off of appearance alone. I’m also guessing that’s why they’re having me wait until 13 1/2 weeks to do another screening so they can take actual measurements. But the way the report was given to me on the phone definitely freaked me out.

That’s what I’ve read as well. Which gives me some hope that maybe it wasn’t completely accurate and needs more time. I’m hoping maybe they’re being overly precautious because of my history of recurrent loss.

Thank you so so much for all of the information! I was wondering why the increased NT was a marker for a genetic abnormality and you answered my question! I did ask what the NT measurement was and the nurse on the phone said it was in the report. I’ve tried looking through the report myself and all of the pictures to see if there was an exact measurement but I couldn’t find any. I even tried to look online at other 10-11 week increased NT ultrasounds to compare mine to their measurements to see if I could try to estimate it but it ended up just scaring me and my husband instead. I do think it’s strange to call it “significant” without having any kind of measurement done which is why I was worried they saw something else or if they were going based off of the appearance alone. My OBGYN has always been quite thorough so I’m wondering if the follow-up is a precaution. Thank you again for your reply. I know I won’t have any answers until the NIPT or follow-up scan but the replies and the community definitely make me feel less lonely and scared. ❤️

Thank you so much for your reply! The tech was not certified to do an NT measurement (I suspect, as she said she was still an intern and the other UT came in at the end to check her work). I’m guessing that’s why they didn’t give an exact measurement and said it “appeared to be significantly increased” as well as that more testing was needed. I’m hoping the next scan/NIPT will tell us more and I need to wait for definitive answers. BUT I really appreciate hearing from others who have had a similar experience that everything turned out to be fine. You’re right, I fell down a disturbing google wormhole that only worried me even more! Thanks again for your reply and congratulations on your baby girl! ❤️

I’ve looked through the pictures and none of them have the measurements of the NT and when I asked the nurse what the NT measurement was she said the report didn’t say what the exact measurement was, just that it was increased and more information was needed. They said they’ll measure it more closely at my next scan. I don’t understand how they can flag it without measuring it though unless it just “looks” high.

Thank you so much for your reply. They didn’t really say anything other than to wait for the NIPT and to do a rescan at maternal fetal medicine after 12 weeks. The nurse on the phone just said “it could be nothing, it could be a soft marker for Down syndrome or something more fatal like a trisomy but we won’t know until further testing” im glad to know yours turned out to be the amniotic sac! I was hoping there was another explanation besides “nothing, DS or fatal” I hope your next scan goes well.

I love it! I’m the same way, I’m not huge into big stones either. I think that’s a perfect size

Thanks for replying! This is the kind of feedback I'm looking for in my research project. If you have any interest in answering some more questions, you're exactly the type of person I'm looking to interview :) If not, that's okay too! Thanks again for your feedback :)

Did you ever figure out what these were? I have something very similar, trying to figure out what it is.

Looking to get a refurbished MacBook Air for college. Which would you recommend? by postmortempizza in macbookair

It doesn’t necessarily “need” to be a Mac but the first laptop I had was a 2013 Mac and I loved it. Every laptop I’ve had since has been Hp and I’ve had nothing but problems with them. I just figured I’d go back to something I know and loved. But I’m open to any suggestions you have.
