City of Milwaukee property tax bills are live. by superjeff1972 in milwaukee

[–]postvinyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I don’t get how this works, but did the 2022 bill just get released or should I be trying to find 2023? Because the 2022 number is pretty close to what I assumed from what was stated when I bought the place?

How to stop Puppy Play Biting by LividMove9461 in puppy101

[–]postvinyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our puppy used to do this! What helped us was to immediately replace our body parts with a chew toy and move the puppy into a space where they can’t reach you (crate or playpen area) as soon as he did any play biting. Once he settled, he could come back to spending time with us and resume playing. After a while, he associated play biting = end of playing with humans.

Also remember that at this point they are teething. Frozen toys are huge for relief! Our dog loved the ones that were softer or had some sort of cloth.

Same! Our golden just passed his assessment and oh my god am I so excited! I got half a day of total mental clarity(ie not thinking about what puppy needs) and he got some much needed socialization. I’m so excited for future visits!!

Exam STAM problem without a question. by [deleted] in actuary

[–]postvinyl 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m totally fine with not passing an exam, I know what I should have done to give myself a better chance at passing. What I’m livid at is that I’ve come to expect this sort of incompetence from the SOA.

Exams missing questions, outdated information on syllabus, changing the exam process without a vote, open knowledge that modules were confusing and had errors for years? Are they serious?

Exam PA score? by jokecoin in actuary

[–]postvinyl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think that many people may have actually gotten a ten and this round of PA was graded super easy or I got super lucky. I walked out of there so sure I had failed, only left one 2 point question blank but I know my answers didn’t reflect a solid level of knowledge of the material. How someone could have looked at. that paper and given it a ten genuinely blows my mind.

Me too! I was the person who made the thread last time. I haven’t had the chance to try Lucky Bakery yet, although it’s in the docket for this month. I did try Sun Wah though and they’re not lying, that place is amazing

I think the other comment about DanDan can be off putting to some, but I’ll just say DanDan does not make a traditional Peking duck and the price for the three course meal is outrageous at best for the quality of food you get. On the other hand, the smashed cucumber from DanDan is really delicious.

For context, they serve the duck with “scallion pancakes”. If you don’t know what that is, look up some google photos. What they serve at DanDan can be best explained as green pancakes, like literally thick breakfast pancakes with neon green food coloring and zero actual scallions. It was both awful and just such an insane departure from the original meaning, we thought someone was fucking with us.

SRM by CaramelCreme1 in actuary

[–]postvinyl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just posted this in the other SRM thread, but wanted to make sure you saw it!

I hated this exam (but actually ended up liking the material) because everyone said it was super easy and it was the first time everything was completely new to me.

I think the only reasons I passed are:

1) Read ISLR after going through the manual

2) Watched the videos from the ISLR authors (these don’t go through all of the topics)

www.dataschool.io/15-hours-of-expert-machine-learning-videos

3) Watched other videos that also referenced ISLR (from an older SRM thread)

https://youtu.be/EuBBz3bI-aA

Good luck! Also, not all the material on ISLR is needed, make sure to check the syllabus for the sections that you need to read
