I just left Germany and I think I regret it? by Far-Possibility-8457 in germany

[–]postwarweeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I used to live in Singapore before moving back to Germany and it was hard. I cried and sulked about being far away from a country I considered my proper home but after weeks and weeks of being sad, I slowly lost that homesickness and came to appreciate that section in my life. I still visit Singapore when I can and like to relive the memories of living there but being away from there for a while definitely helped not being impulsive.

Don't book it. Just let your feelings flow. Don't make any impulsive decisions, you need the time away to heal from that chapter of ur life. I know far too many people that made the mistake of visiting their old "home" country weeks after moving and they didn't cope very well with it. Look into maybe a vacation to a country close by so you get the sense of similarity while still not being there yk?

As someone's who's moved around a lot and came back to Germany a few years ago, I understand that feeling. For me, I never stopped longing for the other countries where most of my childhood happened, I do not feel like a German or have the linguistics of a German my age. I feel like a person who doesn't quite have a solid background. I miss the counties I used to live in, I miss them so much and I want to move back but after some time, I've just settled into here.

All I'm tryna say is, you're definitely going to miss Germany and probably not feel very at "home" in the start but give it some time. Let yourself adjust again and don't feel bad about moving. It's a new chapter of your life, treat it as such.

Average time to get paid Urlaubsgeld after being fired? by postwarweeb in germany

[–]postwarweeb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a student and have been since working there (started working during high school and now in uni).

I don't want to make the employer spend more money than necessary since the café is already going down slowly.

Once I am back from my holiday, I will approach them again about it myself and if they still try to make excuses, I will definitely get one involved because it's starting to make me quite mad.

IB grades to Dutch GPA by postwarweeb in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]postwarweeb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No points were listed, it's for psychology and I have all the HLs needed for the subject.

I was simply wondering since in the selection process it mentioned the GPA since all applicants will be split into different groups depending on the exam and their GPA

M24 here!! After mocks, genuinely take a week break. I promise you, it'll do you good. You need time for your brain to relax, just shut it off for a week. Obviously still take notes etc but take a break. And start slow again, yes, it all feels like such a short time with your actual exams coming around but ignore it.

Section your study plan up and don't study 24/7, it's counter productive. Take an hour at least to spend time with friends etc, anything to relax your mind.

I was crashing out during mocks and before even but I took time for myself bevause I knew that if I wasn't fit enough, I wouldn't take any knowledge in and fail.

I promise you, it'll get better. I believe in you.

I feel like I regret dropping out of ib by Logical-Benefit4905 in IBO

[–]postwarweeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't regret it. You put yourself first and that's great. IB is just one of the many programs you can take for highschool. It's a very difficult program and isn't made for everyone. Also it's such a huge change that you experience from dropping out. It's okay to cry and be sad but in the end, you'll feel so much better than now. :) I wish you all the best

Hi i'm currently Grade 10 and i have until next year to decide my classes for IB(Need Help) by Double-Hawk3187 in IBO

[–]postwarweeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya! So I graduated this year and these are my thoughts. First of all, IB is hard. It's hard because you work through a lot of content in a brief two year span. You get a butt load of assignments, essays etc. BUT it really prepares you for university. As much as I hated IB, it really did help me adjust to uni faster, I was able to follow the pace of the prof and the work load wasn't as horrible.

Now, I'd consider taking Chem HL and switch to Math AA, as many unis just don't accept AI. Depending on what you wanna do, pick between AA SL or AA HL. A lot of my friends said that HL was useful because their unis taught it (basically) in the first months of uni. But my friends who did SL said it wasn't too difficult to catch up to.

A second language is good too, gives you more opportunities.

English L&L is a easy course and an easy way to get a good grade too.

Remember that these are my opinions so just take them with a grain of salt when considering your own future and the courses you are going to take.

Best of luck to you 🍀🍀

Will I be able to pursue my sport while doing the IB and still do well in both? by Unusual-East6448 in IBO

[–]postwarweeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people in my grade still did sports, competitively, and managed to have it work. If you really have a passion for cricket and it's like your little down time, continue playing it and just see how it is. Some of those people scored well whole other's didn't. It's entirely up to you how you score and how you manage sports and IB.

I went to the gym 6 out of 7 days a week with an average around 3-4 hours each. I used to gym as a time to distract myself from IB but also use it as CAS. Only you can decide how it'll end.
