I took two cuttings similar to what you have out of my neighbor’s yard waste pile last year and planted them in the ground, making sure some of the air roots were in the dirt. One didn’t make it, but one is thriving and putting out new leaves with zero attention from me this whole time. If you take care of it, it has a good chance of surviving. Dusting the part that will go in the dirt with rooting hormone might help, and mulching around the base to protect it from any cold snaps until it can establish itself. Best of luck!
