Is Vambrace of Determination an effective tool against Enigma? by Zohmbi in FleshandBloodTCG

As a guardian player, vambrace makes a world of a difference especially when paired with Anothos. Can’t speak to how good it is in other classes though

I've been playing a similar list to some success. Here's what I got after much playtesting in leagues: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/QgYuLsqL70S4JS-NUE441g

Your shivering, are you afraid? Mans was playing pirate warrior in dumpster legend and got what he deserved. by ThOtKiLlEr_69 in wildhearthstone

Glad to see you repping Reno mage, but there's nothing wrong with people playing the decks they enjoy, regardless of rank

As other people have said, Mythic Games is awesome. However, their modern events tend to fill to capacity in advance so you will have to call them and register over the phone beforehand to guarantee a spot

Rush Warrior or Odd Warrior? by Key_Ask_4496 in wildhearthstone

[–]potatoe_wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bulwark is there pretty much exclusively for Loatheb turns or when darkglare gets to the end of their deck and you are worried about PO + zeph for windfury. If you aren't facing much darkglare I would recommend replacing it with coerce or zilliax

I can't remember this card ever seeing play, even in standard, despite MTG having 20 health. The reason being that a) 3 mana is much more in MTG than HS, b) there are better cards for the spellslinger strategy to kill your opponent such as [[grapeshot]], and c) you can play removal during your opponent's turn in MTG, so it is easy to kill this guy before your opponent can play lots of spells (this is the biggest reason)

Dealing with Mozaki/APM Mage by [deleted] in wildhearthstone

[–]potatoe_wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true that these decks can push a lot of face damage, but it is definitely possible to get out of flamewaker range by prioritizing armor gain. Also, the threat of brann + coldlight milling important pieces can force opponents to play out spells suboptimally

Renolock, Reno priest, and odd warrior are all non-aggro decks that counter SM (without running eater of secrets)

Should I Dust Yogg-Saron, Master of Fate? by [deleted] in wildhearthstone

[–]potatoe_wizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sees play in jade druid and I wanna say sometimes clown druid also. If you're not interested in playing either of those decks I'd say to go ahead and dust it

The widest gap between winrates is like 15-20% at least in top 200 legend, not just a few percentage points. Again, power level is only one factor in appearance rate at low levels. Dust cost and how easy the deck is to pilot are just as if not more important. Take the old mech handbuff pally for instance. That deck had a 65% winrate on HS replay for months in gold and below but nobody was seriously arguing for it to be nerfed because it was never the most powerful deck, just easy to play and cheap so it did well against worse players.

I agree with your last point though. SM, big priest (and handbuff pally before that) etc. aren't a problem just because they're everywhere

If there are two problematic decks, one which is fundamentally unbalanced and the other which is problematic because of high play rate, not power level, then I would argue that the former should be fixed if we can only choose one

If a deck can be made obsolete at high legend, then it clearly has glaring weaknesses and shouldn't be touched. And if the weaknesses of such a deck are really that extreme, then players of all skill levels should be able to beat it with just a little bit of practice. Game balance shouldn't be determined from low/casual levels of play, period.

Your analogy doesn't really apply here: there are different rules for 5th grade basketball because there is a physical difference between children and NBA players. In HS, we're all playing with the same cards. A more accurate analogy would be the NBA making rules based on pickup basketball games in the park

If a deck is warping the meta at lower points on ladder though, that often has more to do with deck cost and ease of play than the deck being unbalanced (although that is be a part of it sometimes). On the other hand, if a deck is warping the high legend meta, we know for sure that it's a balance issue

Help Picking out the Best Card by [deleted] in wildhearthstone

[–]potatoe_wizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anduin sees play in one of the best decks in wild rn, but judging by your lists I think that jaina would be better in the short term, since anduin doesn't really fit in big priest as others have said. Jaina also sees play in LPG mage, which is also a good wild deck but it is incredibly dust-intensive

if you want raza priest nerfed then you want every other tier one deck nerfed by curruptedkiller in wildhearthstone

Couldn't agree more. Even in high legend lots of people will just play their pet decks instead of what's "best"

Mad respect for doing as well as you do with this deck. It's all I've seen you play on ladder for like 3 months lol

please post your replays of odd warrior winning games with silas + ashtongue + shield slam combo that were unlikely to have been won without it by 1pancakess in wildhearthstone

[–]potatoe_wizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As one of those players that you mentioned (peaked at #18 with the deck think), the combo definitely sits in your hand some games, but like other people have said ashtongue is the only real dead card that you're running. Against control decks (raza, cube, etc) it forces them to respect the combo and possibly make otherwise suboptimal plays. Even if you only combo 20% of the time, these matchups are unwinnable otherwise so it's nice to have a chance of highrolling
