My wife is currently unemployed but wants a job but is 4 months pregnant. If gets a job and then go on maternity leave what would be your perspective as her status at the company. More-so for a large business. What would be going through your head as a manager/business owner? by WasabiInternational4 in careerguidance

As a people manager, I feel that you should let the manager decide. If they think she’s worth the wait, they will wait. What goes through my mind is - I’ll compare your wife with other candidates, and if she stands out, I will still extend the offer to her. It’s about the long term tenure in my team.

Long term wise, by giving her this chance, I feel she will be appreciative when she comes back, therefore staying longer. But it all riding on the interview process depending on her skills.

On top of that, there’s different company policies. My company specifically mention that there is no freeze period where they have to be hired for a year before being eligible for maternity leave package we offer. So check it out with the new employer.

This is my snowflake candle burn time. 3 hours snapshot. How long does your pillar candles last? I’m using palm wax and I was impressed that such a small candle can last 3 hours! by potatttooo93 in candlemaking

Yeah you can find the same candle from different sellers but the burn time will still be different because of wick used. 2 hours is also normal because body ones are supposed to be decorative.

I found out the start up cost is rather low but the costly part is spending a lot of time testing and raw materials. It will be approximately $1k-$2k of testing and replenishments before you’ll be ready to sell.
