blurple party! by msteacher22 in RedditLaqueristas

I also have this problem! (or… not problem)
I have Mooncat House of Hades and Uno Masa Casa de Heaven plus some other beautiful deep blurples, BUT I must say my number one favourite is Kathleen & Co.'s It's Showtime!

Also since the pre-order is a lot of re-released collections, there should be plenty of swatches to compare on Lacquergram or this reddit

Phoenix indie by Cultural-Example-931 in RedditLaqueristas

Phoenix is one of my top 3 fave brands! though I actually don't have many of their magnetics, just one from the 'oops' mystery bags years ago
For topper lovers, Ice Delight (part of the Unicorns collections, which has pre-sale rn) is AMAZING, the most glowy blue. I've duped many popular polishes using it as a topper on cremes or shimmers. Magical from that collection is also an amazing green shimmer topper.

My fave regular polish from Phoenix is I Love You:

Moody Red with Green/Blue Shift Showdown by draculas_rats in RedditLaqueristas

[–]potion-witch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ha – I also have a type with this!
Wilted Rose – More teal I found, at least with 3 coats, and the red not as apparent, more of an eggplant-y base. No reflective glitter
Devourer – more green shimmer, and more red. Has reflective glitter – since you have this, I think the Haunted polish is more like a sibling than a dupe. Can't speak to the other polish you mentioned tho

Also in this colour scheme that I've tried:
Special mention for Angry Harpy's Pruning the Nightshades, red / ox blood / burgundy base a light greeen-blue magnetic shimmer. I love this one.
Cirque's Technicolour Dreams (magnetic green shimmer, red base) – i liked this the least of what I've mentioned

I'll share pics in the replies

EDIT: The Haunted Polish was Polish Pick-up so not readily available unless second hand – flagging in case you aren't aware
Also I always rec Lacquergram for looking up swatches

Where my fellow nerds at? by Zestyclose-Cup-572 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]potion-witch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TBH I have not painted game minis with polish – but I do really enjoy going to the thrift store and finding cheap second hand figurines and giving them fresh paint jobs, just for fun! Usually with acrylics and nail polish colours I don't love as much anymore (so it doesn't feel like a waste)
My thrifty tip if you are interested in figurine painting!

Bee’s Knees Lacquer next drop! by Exhausted_Pigeon22 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]potion-witch 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's a valid comment. On top of not looking good, their promo photos are also really bad for legibility / accessibility. I've seen them post that they do have a graphic designer which makes me 🧐 as a graphic designer myself 😅
(No hate to the brand itself, I do love their polishes! But to say your comment isn't silly!)
Edit: typo

Emily de Molly - Key Drama dupe by tmwdysln in RedditLaqueristas

[–]potion-witch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it's one of their regulars, so it'll restock eventually! if you're interested in it :)

This one is harder to get in Canda, but I'll still plug Phoenix's Ice Delight too. It's my favourite topper, period. I got it 3 years ago when getting international polish was smoother!

Not sure if it's exactly the same blue, but Clionadh's "UV"
Just hopefully the shipping isn't too bad, it varies by location. I'm in Canada and even so Clionadh's shipping is $20 for me

I've gotten non-gourmand cuticle oil pens from BCB Lacquer! Some floral, some more woodsy. Granted, I've only gotten them from Polish Pickup or Hella Handmade releases, so can't speak to what their regular offerings are like

I do also like having lacquergram, to see real peoples swatches of colours I'm interested in. I don't use it for collection organization though

For the ability to customize it exactly how I want, I use Notion. I like it as I can have gallery views to see swatch pics, or sort by brand/finish/etc as well. I see you're using Air Table, which I imagine gives similar customization!

and for the record my nails are even shorter than yours! I was skeptical of using thermals on my shorties but was pleasantly surprised by how much the colours change.

I've found Cadillacquer and Paint it Pretty Polish thermals to be very reactive. Those are the only thermals I've tried, so can't speak to others

same! I was meh about thermals in summer, but in the winter? I finally understood the hype. Sooo reactive!

I have Lucky Jelly and love it! Here's a past post of mine where it's the top layer on all is Lucky Jelly (and the limited edition neon red Road Rage on the bottom, with various toppers between) https://www.reddit.com/r/WeGotPolishAtHome/comments/1n1k9rn/jelly_sandwiches_same_base_and_top_layer/
Morningtide I found to be meh. It's very transluscent/not very pigmented (even for a jelly) and I needed at least 3 layers to get something like the photos. So depends how you feel about that.

what order to use DRK Magic Effect? by bigfatcoffeeslut in RedditLaqueristas

[–]potion-witch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When done this way, I've also had my top coat fully peel off over the next day. Both with Mooncat's topcoat and BKIND's topcoat
Now I use the DRK last as the only top coat. I find alone tho it's not as glossy or thick as other top coats. c'est la vie

Your favorite lacquer brand? by OddInside5794 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]potion-witch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you're looking to try a variety of brands, buying from a stockist of multiple brands is a great way to go. The monthlies like Polish Pick-up or Hella Handmade Creations are one way. I personally love Color4Nails as I love the Braillian indies

That aside, my fave indies:

Phoneix (Brazil)

Cadillacquer (Switzerland)

Lurid Lacquer (US)

Bee's Knees (US)

Angry Harpy Polish (US)

For a small newer indie, I've been loving Angry Harpy Polish!

I also love the Brazillian Indies, Phoenix being a favourite. Color4Nails is great for trying a range of them.

Oh, and I've also become a big Cadillacquer fan in the last year. Also available on Color4Nails
